Prediction Blog: BB Hood vs Bridget

"I can bring you in warm, or I can bring you in cold." - The Mandalorian

B.B. Hood, the sadistic Darkstalker hunter from... Darkstalkers!

Bridget, the cute and cheery Gear hunter from... G-Guilty Gear!

Across all professions in fiction, why is it that we're always drawn towards the tale of the bounty hunter? Stories of a lone individual going up against threats way above their realistic expectations all for the sake of monetary goals is an interesting one, isn't it?

Well, today we feature two character who embody... very different aspects of the bounty hunter genre. Can pro huntress Bridget survive the chilling tale of Little Red Riding Hood? Let's find out!

Before we begin...

Bridget is a woman, respect it or get the hell out

Okay, now that the scum are gone, let's talk about Brisket vs Bulleta. This blog will be a soft composite of both characters in the way that I usually analyse them, which means that all of their officially licensed media will be covered with the main focus being on the mainline Darkstalkers and Guilty Gear games.

Aside from that, their supplementary sources will include both series official Manga and trading cards, the Darkstalkers OVA, Capcom's UDON comics, as well as the Guilty Gear novelisations and CD Dramas.

these characters do not appear in the majority of these why the fuck did I waste my time on-

Background

BB Hood

The world of horror is full of of numerous monsters that send shivers down the spines of hundreds every day, making nightfall the most feared time to be alive. Yet, it makes one wonder. Theres always a bigger fish, as they say, so if the unearthly beasts is what brings us fear, what is it that haunts them? Well, the answer just so happens to be a ten year old girl in a crimson red hood: Bulleta, also known as Baby Bonnie Hood.

After her parents were slain by a violent werewolf, Bulleta became a monster killer for hire, determined to kill each and every monster in existence. Is it for a longing of vengeance? At first, maybe. But after a while, the only thing she started caring about was what she could gain of doing so. Turns out, there are a lot of people who want monsters dead, and are willing to pay for those dreams to become a reality.

Which leads us to the otherworldly realm of Makai, a seperate, demonic plane of reality thats home to all sorts of vile and monstrous beasts. What more could an aspiring monster serial killer wish for? Well, aside from the mountains of cash that you'd get from their carcasses, of course. It shouldn't be a shock that BB quickly made a name for herself in Makai, with the newsites in the realm often reporting of the gruesome crime scenes left behind by a child in a scarlet blood cloth.

Rest to be assured, ever since her arrival, the inhabitants of Makai never again had a sleepy night. They would all fear that if they let their eyes close for as much as a moment, she would appear in the dark corner of their room, guns drawn and bearing a smile that could put any monsters to shame.

And yes, she actually audibly says "teehee" when she laughs. Absolute sociopath.

Bridget

Bridget was born as a boy into a wealthy English family alongside her twin brother. However, the town they lived in saw the birth of the two brothers as a sign of misfortune, demanding that the family set one of them up for death or adoption. Not willing to part with their children and having actual common sense, the family chose to raise Bridget as a girl in order to keep her safe from the outside world's hatred.

Although her wealth and loving parents lead to her having an upbringing of luxury, Bridget could see how the facade over her true existence plagued her family, Bridget began planning to leave her home and make a new for herself as the man she (supposedly) was meant to be and prove her town's superstitions wrong. That was the moment Bridget found the wanted poster for a Gear, promising a 500 thousand reward for whoever could bring it in. The perfect shot for Bridget to prove herself.

So, Bridget set out to become a bounty hunter, and even though she would discover that the particular Gear she had been hunting had already been defeated, she continued her quest to solve her personal problems (and make some sweet cash along the way). On the way to that goal, she would experience the world's wonders for the first time, and make genuine friends who appreciated her for other things than the facade of her youth.

But even after becoming an accomplished bounty hunter and bringing great contributions to her family name, Bridget felt as if she hadn't properly solved her internal struggles. Her entire life, she had been chasing a dream set upon her at her birth, the fake profile of her past shrouding her true identity. But then, Bridget realised that perhaps the answer had been with her the whole time. With some clarity checks from her friends, Bridget began to stop hiding herself and accepted her actual identity as a woman. Finally having found her true self, Bridget set out to continue living her life, now in the way she herself actually wanted.

Equipment

BB Hood

UZI

Bulleta's favourite weapon of choice, she usually keeps at least two of these babies on her person at all times. UZI's are a prime firearm for anyone who doesn't care for accuracy or precision, and just want to riddle their target full of dozens of bullets rapid-fire without a second thought or sliver of hesitation.

Basket

What would Little Red be without her basket o' treats? In this instance tough, "treats" means "various weapons of mass murder".

Stockpiled with all sorts of deadly doo-dads that BB likes carrying around, the basket is not only a perfect storage container, but also a good improvised weapon itself when you find someone in a good need of a smacking.

Oh, and it can also-

Basket Missile

do that

Miscellaneous Weapons

The rest of these are one-off or unspecific weapons that BB simply uses in her moveset or wherever else she needs them. She's not too picky with what she carries around, as long as it can be fatal.
  • Pistols
  • Rifles
  • Revolvers
  • Shotguns
  • Knives
  • Swords
  • Machetes
  • Grenades
  • Landmines
  • Explosive Apples
  • Molotov Cocktails
  • Remote Detonators
  • Rockets
  • Maces
  • Hammers
  • a rock

Catastrophe Satellite

Apparently, BB somehow has access to a camouflaged military satellite, which she uses to retrieve information on monsters as part of her everyday routine. Y'know, as you do.

Harry

You may be wondering about the dog that is always following BB around. Well folks, this is Harry!

he's fucking useless

but at least he's cute

John and Arthur

Remember how in the original Little Red Riding Hood story, there was a hunter that sliced the wolf open? Well, you shouldn't. That was only added in adaptations because the original ending was too dark.

Regardless, that hunter is John, who alongside his good pal army solider Arthur, are always ready to assist Bulleta when she needs someone super dead. Befitting their respective occupations, John carries a large double barreled shotgun, while Arthur wields a giant rocket launcher. Even though these weapons should take time to reload, they're both capable of spamming them like normal bullets. Because fighting games gotta fighting game.

Mr. K

No one knows exactly who this guy is, but all that matters to Bulleta is that he carries the fat stacks.

Bridget

Yo-yo's

A gift from her father, Bridget uses this pair of yo-yo's as her primary weapons of choice. While you may not think a children's toy would work as a deadly weapon fit for a bounty hunter, a keen eye may tell you that they're outfitted with hollow point .357 magnum revolver cylinders, meaning that they can also function as effective firearms.

Fucking RWBY ass weapon

Roger

Roger is Bridget's beloved teddy bear, a robotic plushie possessed by a ghost (just roll with it) that can talk, walk, and fight. He does so primarily in conjunction with Bridget's yo-yo's, allowing himself to be flung around and attack with his fists, hidden retractable sawblades, or personal motorcycle; the Killing Machine.

Yes really.

Handcuff

Officially listed as a weapon, this giant handcuff that Bridget has around her waist does... nothing! At least it could be symbolism for how she felt chained and trapped from her true identity. That's neat.

Powers and Abilities

BB Hood

Innocent Appearance

BB's skill and competence as a bounty hunter comes down to a mixture of two things; her bloodlust, and her ability to mask said bloodlust. She does this via assuming this innocent appearance, often of a lost child who needs help. Perfect for getting in close enough for a kill. In combat, she uses these tricks to appear like a clumsy and weak little girl that'd be easily disposed off, only to turn the tides of battle in the blink of an eye. She's also really good at using this to mask her attacks, capable of stringing seemingly mundane actions into ones that end up killing you.

Double Jump

BB can double jump.

Bet she'd kill (hehe) at parkour.

Tell Me Why

Ain't nothin' but a heartbreeeeeeeeaaaak-

BB crawls.

Cheer and Fire

BB takes out a bottle of what is presumably very alcoholic champagne and gives it a good shake, before swiftly spraying it out towards her target, lighting the liquid on fire with a match to create a powerful fire attack.

Shyness and Strike

BB spins her basket around before swinging it in for a powerful bashing attack. Somehow, it increases both in strength and size the longer she spins it. Odd.

Happy and Missile

BB leaps into the air and fires her basket missile downwards at her foe.

Smile and Missile

BB fires her basket missile directly at her foe.

Sentimental Typhoon

BB grabs onto her opponent and, with an evil glint in her eye, spins them around quickly enough to cause a miniature typhoon, sending them flying.

Jealousy and Fake

Preformed by blocking an attack, BB somehow appears behind her opponent, revealing that the one they had been striking was nothing else than a doll.

Cool Hunting

BB snaps her fingers and summons to her side John and Arthur while taking out her UZI. What follows next is four seconds solid of the very unfortunate to be corpse getting riddled with a hailstorm of bullets, shells, and rockets. Ouch.

Beautiful Memory

BB remembers her grandma, and cries. Hey, even the wicked can have loved ones, you know. Deciding that what her nan would have wanted most in life would be to see your shit kicked in, BB rapidly assaults you with a combo of knife slashes, rock smashes, and geyser splashes.

Apple For You

BB gives her opponent an apple. How sweet of her!

Then it explodes.

The Killing Time

BB focuses her energy and enters a state where her speed and frame data is drastically improved, allowing her to do things like, say, fire missiles at a much higher rate.

Card Abilities

Did you know there was a Darkstalkers card game? I certainly didn't before I started this research process, but here we are now!
  • B. B. Hood
    • R Commit: After your opponent plays a non-foundation card, add 1 card from the same type from your discard type to your hand.
    • E Discard 1 Card: If the discarded card either shares at least 2 resource symbols with your opponents attack or matches at least 1 keyword with your opponents attack, that attack gets -X damage. X equals 6 minutes the discarded cards control.
  • Basket of Tricks:
    • F Commit: Add 1 attack with the control of 2 or less from your discard pile to your hand.
    • E Commit: Your opponents split attack gets -X damage. X equals the printed damage of the attack.
  • Born to Hunt:
    • R Commit: Discard 1 momentum, after your opponent plays a non-foundation card, add 1 card of the same type from your cards type to your hand. If your character is B. B. Hood, add 2cards of the same type to your hand instead.
  • Cheer and Fire:
    • E Commit 2 foundations: Until the end of the turn, when the card is in your card pool, after your opponent plays an attack as a reversal, that attacks damage is reduced to 0.

Yo-yo Combat - Basic Moves

As previously mentioned, Bridget is well trained to utilise her less than standard weapons effectively as tools in combat. Thanks to being able to pull and stretch the string basically however she wants, she can use them both for close-range and long-range attacks with ease.

Here's a comprehensive list of Bridget's basic yo-yo moves. Her special moves will come following. (Being basic moves, these have no official names, as thus they are all taken from their Dustloop definitions)
  • 5P: Bridget swings her yo-yo counter-clockwise upwards.
  • c.S: Bridget swings her yo-yo similar to above, but uses an intricate pattern for more oomf.
  • f.S: Bridget shoots out her yo-yo straight behind her back.
  • f.SS: Bridget swings her yo-yo around from behind in a wide arc.
  • 5H: Bridget shoots both of her yo-yo's straight forth for a powerful attack.
  • 5HH: Bridget swings both her yo-yo's into an inward arc for pressure on both sides.
  • 5D: In the air, Bridget swings her yo-yo beneath herself in an arc. Would probably be her down-air in Smash.
  • 2H: In the air, Bridget swings her yo-yo in a wide upwards arc behind her back. Would probably be her back-air in Smash.
  • j.K: In the air, Bridget kicks out with both feet in a split. Would probably be her neutral-air in Smash.
  • j.D: Bridget swings both her yo-yo around herself in a frenzy. Another contender for neutral-air.
  • j.H: In the air, Bridget shoots out her yo-yo straight forwards. Would probably be her forward-air in Smash.
  • j.P: In the air, Bridget quickly shoots her yo-yo diagonally downwards.
  • j.S: Bridget channels her inner JoJo and does whatever this is.
  • 2P: In a crouch, Bridget swings her yo-yo upwards.
  • 2S: While crouching, Bridget swings both her yo-yo in alternating patterns.
  • 2D: Bridget hops up and sweeps the floor in front of her with her yo-yo.
  • 5K: Bridget kicks out with her leg for a poking attack.
  • 2K: Bridget kicks downwards to hit her opponents feet.
  • 6K: Bridget uses Ryu's diarrhea joke foot.
  • 6P: Bridget swings her yo-yo in an arc above her head, preventing aerial attacks.
  • Ground/Air Throw: yeet
  • Block: Bridget uses her yo-yo strings to create an improvised barrier that can guard against most attacks surprisingly well.

Butt Bump

Weapon of mass destruction

While seemingly just a humorous joke move, it's actually a quite useful combo tool, as using it will send Bridget forwards with little startup, meaning it's excellent for catching foes off guard and stringing them into other moves.

Yo-yo placement

Bridget throws her yo-yo out, causing it to hover in the air in a desired location. This is a set-up move, which Bridget can follow up on in one of many ways.
  • Yo-yo Recall: Bridget simply recalls her yo-yo, damaging anyone impacted along the way.
  • YoRoger Rush: Bridget summons Roger, who punches towards the yo-yo.
  • Jagged Roger: Bridget summons Roger, who unleashes his sawblades and flies forward.
  • Roger Hug: Doesn't actually involve Roger. The yo-yo turns large, sticking to the foe.
  • Roger Rush (Force Break): Roger is summoned on the yo-yo, where he remains in place as he strikes three times.
  • Jagged Roger (Force Break): Roger is summoned on the yo-yo, where he unleashes his sawblades and follows the opponent.

Stop and Dash

Bridget sends both her yo-yo's out, where they will return to her after a few moments. She can choose wether or not to activate their damaging hitbox on the Stop (throwing them out) or the Dash (recalling them back in).

Rolling Movement

Bridget pulls a Kano and curls up into a ball before flying at her yo-yo's through the air. Works as an alternative to recalling them.

Starship

Bridget spins her yo-yo's around by her side, hitting any target close to her.

Kick Start My Heart

Bridget hops onto her yo-yo's and rolls them across the ground, using them to dash into her opponents with a tackle attack.

Brake

While rolling on her yo-yo's, Bridget breaks to cause them to immediately stop in their tracks, causing an electric projectile to burst out and hit the opponent instead.

Shoot

While in motion, Bridget leaps into the air and spins her yo-yo's around, damaging anyone targets she flies into.

Roger Dive

Bridget leaps up into the air before slamming back down, holding Roger. The impact is sure to damage anyone unfortunate enough to stand at that spot.

Rock the Baby

Bridget grabs Roger and holds him up as she jumps forwards. If she impacts anyone, Roger will grow in size and wrap his arms around them before launching them back with a chest pump.

Loop the Loop

Bridget uses both of her yo-yo's to flurry attack her opponent before finishing off with a powerful ground pound curtesy of Roger.

Maintenance Disaster

Bridget throws her yo-yo at her opponent and detonates it, exploding it in their face.

Me and My Killing Machine

Bridget summons Roger on his Killing Machine, who drives into the opponent from behind.

Return of the Killing Machine

Bridget calls for Roger once more, who again comes in on his sick ride. This time, he drives diagonally from where Bridget is standing.

Relief After Maintenance

Bridget launches her opponent into the air before detonating her yo-yo. The cute pose is a nice plus as well.

Shoot the Moon

Yeah so she just fucking does that

Bridget's Instant Kill move, where she wraps her opponent up with her yo-yo strings before chucking them upwards so hard they exit the Earths atmosphere and land head-first on the moon.

Wild Assault

In Guilty Gear, Wild Assaults are extremely fast and powerful, forward-moving attacks that can be cancelled into any special moves. This naturally offers great versatility and mixup options, allowing Bridget to land complex combos. Bridget's Wild Assault simply has her spin around to swing her yo-yo in a wide arc.

Psych Burst

When taking or recieving damage, Bridget's Burst Gague will automatically fill over time, and once it fills up completely, she can preform a Burst manoeuvre, of which there are two types. The Gold Burst is Preformed when Bridget is in a neutral state, and the Blue Burst is Preformed when in a defensive one (such as while in a combo or blocking). Regardless, the two share the same effect of launching the opponent back (NOT damaging them), and giving Bridget full invincibility for a short time.

Scaling

BB Hood

Jon Talbain

As an elite Darkhunter, BB can naturally keep up with even the most dangerous of prey. And there is no prey she loves to hunt more than everyone's favourite wolfman daddy, Jon Talbain

B Class Darkstalkers

As you may know, Darkstalkers are categorised into different "Classes" based upon the strength of the individual, making it fair to scale all characters in the same class to each other, as the verse considers them equivalent in strength. Now, BB is only a C Class, but her consistant scuffles with the B+ Class Jon proves that she should be comparable to the mid tiers in power, given that she can both outpace and injure him.

A Class Darkstalkers

While they're seldom compared, it could theoretically be possible for lower classes of Darkstalkers to match the higher ones, similarly to how BB herself can match Jon, despite him being a class above her. Even then, the roster of Darkstalkers are usually at least comparable in speed to each other, even between classes, as shown by Jon in particular managing to dodge and weave around Morrigan's attacks. Hell, BB was even able to do the same... for a bit, at least.

S Class Darkstalkers

This one is kinda memey, but there are some points towards it. While a C Class like BB has never fought against Jedah or God Pyron, there are a few characters who have showcased the ability to injure or keep up with them in combat before (best example being Jon slashing through Lillith).
More on this scaling in specifics before the verdicts.

Street Fighters

Ok so hear me out on this one

In some secondary material such as the UDON comics, the Darkstalkers and Street Fighters cast has intermingled and done battle with each other, and while Bulleta herself hasn't appeared in any of these, people she's fought certainly have. Although questionably canonical, its suitable supplementary evidence. (There's also this)

I kid, I kid.

Bridget

May

Being Bridget's best gal pal and the coolest pirate around, its no suprise that they've done battle against each other once or twice, with the two often being depicted as equals to one another.

Baiken

Bridget has fought against Baiken in the past, even managing to perfectly parry each and every one of her strikes prior to their duel. And while Baiken rises to a level of strength above Bridget when she full on unleashed her inner power, its fair to scale Bridget to feats she has preformed while suppressed.

Dizzy

As a Gear hunter, it only makes sense for Bridget to tussle with the "strongest gear in existence". But while Bridget has fought somewhat evenly with Dizzy, it was made clear that the latter was holding back during the battle, meaning her full strength isn't something that Bridget can match.

Sol Badguy

Being the main protagonist of the verse, Sol had naturally come across Bridget in the past, with the two even having a battle... which we will get back to.

I-No

Although hard to believe, it's possible that Bridget could potentially match the unfathomable strength of I-No... maybe. I mean, she has fought her in the past, right? (That, kids, is called foreshadowing).
Again, more on this before the verdicts.

Weaknesses

BB Hood

womp womp

She's crazy. No need to try and dance around the matter of fact, Bulleta has some serious mental issues. Now, this evident psychopathy doesn't mean she can't hold calmness or act strategic, but it is still something worth considering. She is also extremely reckless, often literally throwing herself into battle and assuming that she'll prevail just because she always has so far. And finally, while she's not limited to them, most of her weapons are firearms and thus means limited ammunition. Although she's competent in close quarters, she really does prefer to hold her distance, and getting a melee fatal blow in wouldn't be too hard for whoever wants her dead.

Bridget

I'm not doing the obvious joke fuck you

Bridget is a sweet girl, kind of to a fault. Although her actual competence in bounties and hounties is nothing to laugh at, she's proven numerous times to be rather naive, such as when I-No managed to easily trick her. She is also really bad at recognising when situations are dangerous or when she shouldn't trust people, which has gotten her in trouble several times before.

Summary

BB Hood

  • Can likely get the dupe on Bridget without even trying too hard.
  • More bloodthirsty and willing to murder.
  • More skilled and better trained.
  • Her weapons are much more lethal.

Before the verdicts

Higher Scaling

As you may have noticed, I was a little vague during the girls respective scaling segments on wether or not they should realistically compare to the higher tiers in power, so let's do a little deep dive on how higher power works in both series, shall we?

It's worth keeping in note that everything discussed in this section will be PURELY my opinion, and I am in no way an objective speaker of all. Some people didn't get this in the Shadow vs Mewtwo blog so I figured I'd make it as clear as I can. You're free to disagree with my opinions on this, and I'm not trying to change your viewpoints on this subject.

BB Hood

How powerful are the Darkstalkers top tiers? Well, first things first, there's obviously Makai and the human world, as well as Jedah's personal dimension of Majigen. Pyron describes Majigen as a seperate universe with different laws of reality, meaning that the larger Makai and human world are thus likely universes of their own. Right of the bat, that's 3 universes. The Darkstalkers universe is most certainly larger than our own as well, considering how Pyron's full body is 400 million lightyears across. For reference, the average length between galaxies is around 100,000 lightyears, meaning that due to Pyron's size and thus mass, the distance should be further, or else he'd just... destroy everything around him at all times. The exact possible size is impossible to point down though.

(Unless you wanna be funny and say that size also equals distance and thus it's 400 million times larger than our universe which would make all 3 together 1,200,000,000 x Universal. For reference, that's 5 thousand times higher than what they put Thor at in vs Vegeta. Bulleta smokes Thor any day)

Bridget

Let's move on to Guilty Gear. Obviously, there's our known universe, and the by now famous Backyard, which both lies on a higher dimensional plane and is bigger than the universe. Then, there's the Underworld Hill, which is not just it's own dimension, but one blatantly referred to as "transcendal". That's 3 universes, but of course there's more. As previously mentioned, the Underworld Hill by nature is capable of surpassing time itself, and thus 4D, but if you consider the Backyward itself as that powerful due to it existing on a higher dimension, the Underworld Hill would thus be above that,  making it 5D.

But would you believe me if I said we can go even higher? The Backyard can reportedly process infinite timelines (note the referring to the concept of Planck time as "simple definition"), which considering that it contains all information, means that its possible they all exist within it, further supported by it being described as possessing "infinite possibilities reduced to a single one" (Page 12). That would make it by itself Multiversal+, and thats ignoring the higher dimensional possibilities.

So, who has the bigger cosmology?

Guilty Gear, and there's really no argument about it.

Although at first they seem comparable with their respective 3 universes both being larger than our own to an unspecified degree, the Backyard contains infinite timelines on top of that.

While Majigen may have different laws of reality, but there's nothing to suggest that they are higher or above any of the regular universes. The Backyard is solidly 4th Dimensional thanks to the Underworld Hill, and that's just the lowest possibility. There's nothing in all of Darkstalkers to suggest that any plane of existence reaches that high.

Should they scale?

In my opinion? No. It's certainly more sound to argue Bridget scaling than BB, but I just straight up think neither of them should get the good scaling.

Bulleta is simple. The best she could possibly get is Jon (whom she is officially below in power) managing to stab through Lilith's torso. Lilith is an S Class... when merged with Morrigan. Split apart, they're A Classers, meaning that you could potentially argue Jon, and thus Bulleta, scaling to them. The reason I find this a little ridiculous however, is simply due to the fact that BB herself has never faced them. Yeah, she managed to dance around attack from Morrigan, sure, but she never actually... took any of them.

Furthermore, the S Classers are obviously far beyond that in terms of strength and power output. While it's it's entertaining idea, scaling BB to the likes of Pyron's best is a little ridiculous.

Bridget's scaling is more... "solid", in my opinion, but I'm still very sceptical on it. Let's go into a little of a deep-dive on the two characters Bridget could potentially scale to on this level.

Sol: Bridget defeats Sol in her XX Accent Core Plus story mode, but directly after the battle, Sol is nowhere to be seen and Bridget is in a completely new location, lamenting the fact that it was just a misunderstanding. For context, before the battle Bridget attacked Sol under the belief that he was hiding information from her. The fact that she has nothing to say on the matter and that she calls Sol scary, indicates to me that its more likely that she ran from the battle, with the victory only being due to game mechanics. Its also worth noting that the scenario plays out in Sol's path as well, where he wins but no more detail is given, making the entire encounter questionable to begin with.

I do think its likely Bridget can take hits from a casual Sol, but the moment he starts trying she would be burnt to a crisp.

I-No: Like everyone else in the game, Bridget faces I-No at the end of her XX story mode and defeats her, with I-No seeming genuinely surprised before teleporting away.

Okay... time to talk about this one. Why do I not think Bridget scales to I-no? Isn't that pretty straightforward evidence? Well, no... because this storyline isn't canon.

Okay, now hear me out I know that's a loaded statement, as Guilty Gear canon is... a mess. Bridget's fight with I-No takes place in Path 2 of her XX story mode, and after defeating her, she goes back to her home village. When she gets home, she is informed by the uncle that her brother has vanished, and immediately sets back out to search for him.

Her next appearance is in Guilty Gear Strive, where this is not brough up at any point in the entire story mode, instead her story here is about accepting her true identity. No mention of her quest to find her brother. But you know what is mentioned up? Her "friendship" with Ky, which only appeared in the XX path where she didn't fight I-No. (Ky also calls of the battle here when he feels like it and Bridget says she's weaker than him, so don't get on me about her scaling to him either)

"But Loka, she fights I-No again in Strive!"

I-No's Strive story revolves around her wanting to gain full power by weakening the Universal Will and turning all humanity into eternally stagnant gods before she fucking dies. This encounter did not happen, and is just padding to give Bridget a slightly longer campaign, as she's not a base roster character.

"But doesn't she fight characters who fights THOSE characters too?"

(Shrug)
That's just something you have to deal with sometimes when trying to analyse a fighting game series that intermingles character strength levels with each other. Sure, Bridget has fought characters who have fought characters who have fought characters and so forth, but what ultimately matters in the end more is what she does to cement herself on that level. I'm not trying to say that power-scaling isn't valid here, but I feel like an exception of sorts should be made for fighting games, seeing as for character campaigns they HAVE to win all their fights, and having them go up against the same three opponents would be boring. We see this issue affecting the Mortal Kombat scaling chain all the time, for instance.

In my eyes, Bridget being a multiverse-breaking girlboss completely shatters any idea of the verse making sense. But by all means, go ahead and scale her to Slayer's galaxy punching shenanigans anyways.

Final words on the matter?

I don't think either of them should get the scaling, but even if you chose to include it, this turns from a solidly debatable matchup to just "Bridget washes the verse". Even if I bought the scaling I'd likely ignore it for the sake of an interesting verdict.

And once more, this is just my opinion as someone who enjoys these series BUT IS NOT AN EXPERT BY ANY MEANS. If you disagree, that's fine, and hey that's why I'm not the only one writing verdicts for these blogs in the first place. Everyone has different views on where characters should place in terms of power and that needs to start being accepted instead of the annoying "I disagree so ur wrong" mindset the community refuses to let go off.

Loka

Hi chat I know it's been a while

The thing I learn the most when making these blogs are which franchises I should and really shouldn't analyse.

Anyways, remember when Shadow vs Mewtwo was the most challenging and draining blog I've ever put together? Yeah, good times. I expected many things from this matchup, but not it to kick that blog down from its pedestal and dance on its grave.

Also, if you look at the official release date at the top of this blog and compare it to when it actually came out... well, I'll just say I ran into a little something of a behind the scenes roadblock (You may notice the remnants of it though the blog as well), but enough of that! I managed to get it together, no matter how much duct tape it took!

ENOUGH PRATTLE let's talk about this matchup and who I think wins. I've already made a huge song and dance about where I think these two scale in their respective franchises so I won't bother repeating myself here. Comparing them directly, I'd say Bridget has the edge of power, tough I'm uncertain to how big of a degree. Her moon toss eclipses any non-street fighter feats that BB could scale to, and Justice's Japan melt is way beyond that. I don't think she could scale to the holy thing since Justice was amped, but even a fraction of it is higher than Anakaris' feat.

As far as speed goes, it's a more interesting subject. Bridget's high-end washes Bulleta's best speeds, but with the more conservative methods, BB is faster. I'm leaning towards the latter, as trillions c Justice comes from a feat that was technically rescanned in future installments, and requires more assumptions in comparison.

With Bridget taking strength, and taking takes speed, let's talk other factors! You know, the fun part of a debate! Bulleta takes the versatility advantage by a mile, and while Bridget's yo-yo's are generally better weapons, that multitude of combat options is still gonna give BB an advantage. Neither of their weirder, esoteric abilities are likely to be of a huge help, but thanks to BB's better speeds, she'll also be able to avoid Bridget's funny moon chuck.

This leads us to the category of skill, experience, and battle practice. And honestly? It kind of turns the debate from somewhat even to downright one-sided. Don't get me wrong, Bridget certainly has capabilities worth mentioning, but Bulleta is om a completely different field in this regard. Her entire lifestyle is based on fooling opponents and taking them out when least expected, and we know for a fact that Bridget has a history of being manipulated. If someone as obvipusly evil as I-No can get in her head, this seemingly innocent child who's built her entire persona on deception can certainly do the same.

So compared directly, Bridget is stronger, but Bulleta simply carries more important advantages. The extreme speed advantage she has above Bridget means that she can run circles around her and avoid all of her stronger attacks as well, if the two even end up in a traditional battle in the first place. After all, BB could probably just continue her to turn around, and then pop a cap in the back of her head.

I honestly don't think this is gonna be the general consensus, but looking at it directly, I dont think B.B Hood is gonna be the one to kick the Bucket

You know
Because of the memes about Bridget's name-

I have never played a fighting game. That's the intro

Neither of these two have too many haxxes of note, so it's not like we have to consider anything too much other than raw skill, arsenal and pure stats here. It's not like BB Hood is gonna use a time stop or Bridget will pull out her mighty mind manipulation or whatever. And judging their arsenal, Bulleta obviously is packing a lot more heat, but Roger and the YoYos manage to match that versatility pretty well on their own. Both of them are pretty comparable with how skilled they are and I'd probably argue BB Hood having the edge on that field, but let's get down to what's going to decide this entire matchup. Where the hell do I think they scale?

BB Hood is at most comparable to B Tier Darkstalkers. You could make an argument for her being comparable to the A Tier, at least in speed, but she's not packing enough heat to be as strong as Demitri or Morrigan. B Tier scaling gets her to at most 3.5 Gigatons of TNT! Impressive. How does Bridget stack up? Well, her direct feat of sending Potemkin to the moon in 3 seconds gets her to 2.4 Gigatons. Without any scaling whatsoever. Not exactly looking great for BB here, but an edge is an edge, no matter how small!

Worth pointing out, I have similar issues with cosmology scaling as Loka, so that explanation applies to my verdict as well. Sorry (not sorry)
Speed is a complicated topic. Scaling to Jon Talbain can get Bulleta to baseline lightspeed, and like I said, it's certainly possible to say that BB Hood scales to A Tier Darkstalkers in speed, which would get her to millions of times the speed of light. I don't think this scaling is the most reliable thing in the world but it's an argument! Jon's scaling alone is already enough to overcome Bridget's relativistic speed though, and only the highest ends for Justice's feat can outspeed the Huitzil feat. More than likely, another point for BB!

...Welp. I wasn't expecting for stats to be this close when handled this way. BB Hood has the edge on both, which is likely enough to give her the win anyway. But there's gotta be something else. Something more...

THAT'S WHERE HAGGAR COMES IN BAYBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PETATONS LEVEL HAGGAR SWEEEEEEP BB HOOD WINS GOOD NIGHT EVERYBODY!

Gman

Anyways it has been a WHILE since I've been on one of these blogs, and we are doing a fighting game matchups with characters who have contentious stats, okay!

Now, strength. Without scaling, BB Hood can decapitate a wolf with a knife. Whereas Bridget can fucking throw people to the moon. Now, with scaling, Bridget...is still stronger. Taking down the likes of Baiken, who can stab through the bed of...Bedman, who was able to carve a giant crater into the ground with Slayer, who is a fucking beast in his own right. BB Hood, in comparison, scales to Jon Talbain, who can slice Huitzils in half like butter, and tear through roofs of a train. As such, just from these I believe Bridget is stronger.

Now for speed, BB Hood can dodge attacks from Jon Talbain, who claims to move at lightspeed. This might be a boast but I'm going to pretend it isn't 👍. Bridget can launch people to the moon in three seconds, which is...I think as fast. I'm not mentioning scaling this time because outside of Jon's lightspeed statement most of everything else isn't as impressive outside of "ooh, the can keep up with bullet dodgers!!". Anyways speed is equal

Durability, halfway there! BB Hood can survive both an attack from Jon that made a huge explosion, as well as ALL of her own explosives! BB Hood has, a lot of explosives! In comparison, Bridget can survive attacks that launch her beyond the horizon. Judging by the gif Loka used for Bridget's durability, I am going to say the horizon of a small town. Neat. Bringing that PESKY scaling in however, BB Hood can fight on par with Anarakis, a mummy that could sink all of ancient Egypt underground. Ancient Egypt is fucking huge 👍. In comparison, Bridget can tank being hit by Mr. Yamada, a giant bluewhale who can weigh up to 200 tons. As such, with what's presented, I believe that BB Hood takes durability.

Now for tertiary advantages. BB Hood, has much, much more weapons then Bridget. However, these weapons are kinda, not as good as Bridget's yo-yos. And while BB Hood is more skilled between the two, Bridget isn't too far behind for it to matter all too much. However, Bridget is MUCH more naive and childish, meaning that BB Hood could more than likely trick her. With all these variables I do not believe I can reasonably give one an advantage over the other, so I'm hitting this with an equal

So, who do I think wins?

While BB Hood is tougher, and their speed are about equal, being able to do things and react at light speed while facing off against bullet timers, I think Bridget, with her superior strength, only slightly inferior skill, better weapons, and her ability to throw people into the fucking moon should give her the win.

Looks like BB Hood just couldn't bear it! C...cuz Bridget has a teddy bear- puns are getting harder to think of.

Soma

Nothing better than girls with guns.

Starting with tertiary factors, because stats can be a headache, B.B. Hood is obviously carrying way more stuff into battle with her than Bridget is. Her vast array of weapons inside her basket are far more plentiful than Bridget's Yo-Yo, and having Harry, John, Arthur and Mr. K as backup (or cannon fodder) against Bridget and Roger helps quite a bit. Her Catastrophe Satellite probably wouldn't be of much use in a situation like this where she's put into a life-or-death scenario without any preparation, and the fact that Bridget's Yo-Yo can be used as both a firearm and bludgeoning weapon makes it a consistent, reliable tool, especially in close range.

Neither may have to worry about ammunition conversation since they're in fighting games and all that, but while B.B. Hood primarily uses a keepaway fighting style, Bridget is more well-rounded, and functions especially well in close-mid range. Not that B.B. Hood lacks the options to fight up close, what with her knives, guns, basket, Sentimental Typhoon move, etc, but she generally prefers to keep a distance, and has the tools to do so. Bridget excels with mix-ups and controlling the stage with how she fights, so if she gets in, she's going to be running the show.

This is especially important because while some Darkstalkers characters can exist just fine in vacuums like space, B.B. Hood isn't one of them. She's a regular (if psychotic) human, and Bridget landing her Shoot the Moon instant kill move would be a game over immediately. B.B. Hood is (probably) more skilled, better trained, has more experience and possesses the brutality and bloodlust to go for any kill she can get immediately, but if she slips up against Bridget in close range, it could cost her everything. Ultimately, stats aside, much of this match comes down to whether or not you think B.B. Hood could successfully keep Bridget at bay long enough, or if Bridget could close the gap in time and send B.B. Hood to the moon.

In the case of the former, B.B. Hood does have a few good tools that would allow her to do this. Firstly, her massive array of guns, rockets, and other such projectile weaponry would keep Bridget on the back foot for most of the fight, and she has moves like Tell Me Why, Cheer and Fire (the attack), and Jealousy and Fake which would help her avoid being hit. Cheer and Fire (the card) would also be of exceptional help in avoiding and cancelling out Bridget's attacks, especially Shoot the Moon. Being able to negate Bridget's instant kill move would take a lot of pressure off B.B. Hood's shoulders in how she fights, and even if she isn't able to all the time, she could potentially throw Harry, John, Arthur or Mr. K in Bridget's way to take the hit for her. Not a very nice thing to do, but she's a rather smart sociopath, so it's not off the table. Furthermore, her faux innocent nature that she plays up could, and likely would, trip Bridget up. She has existing instances of her naivety being used against her, like with I-No, and poorly recognising dangerous situations or non-trustworthy people. B.B. Hood could definitely do the same, and would fit the latter criteria. Bridget would catch on after enough time, but she'd be susceptible to it in the beginning. Using The Killing Time would also boost her speed and reactions, so if she's ever in a tight spot, that could be very useful in trying to get her out of it.

In the case of the latter, Bridget possesses far more mobility with her Yo-Yo than B.B. Hood does on her feet. If she's able to get past B.B. Hood's hail of bullets, she'd control the flow of battle rather cleanly. Her Yo-Yo offers excellent range, fantastic battlefield control, and would be able to prevent B.B. Hood from escaping back to gain distance. Bridget's triple jump is superior to B.B. Hood's double jump, and Roger is a more useful ally to have in battle than any of B.B. Hood's. Landing Shoot the Moon at any point would also give Bridget the victory outright, as B.B. Hood wouldn't be able to survive in space, and even if she threw out her own allies as sacrificial lambs, Bridget can always keep trying to land it again. Although she would be susceptible to B.B. Hood's false innocent nature at first, Bridget would eventually catch on, and B.B. Hood's use of The Killing Time only lasts so long, so she would likely be able to stall it out until she returned back to normal. And again, her Yo-Yo being able to cover such a large area means that Bridget could reliably close out the fight if she's able to get in close and keep up the pressure.

Now, as for how their stats stack up against each other, it can go many ways, depending on your interpretations and what is personally bought for scaling. On lower ends, Bridget launching Potemkin to the moon at 2.4 Gigatons is outdone by B.B. Hood scaling to Anakaris sinking all of Egypt, at 3.5 Gigatons, and launching foes to the moon at 42.74% light speed is again lesser than B.B. Hood directly keeping up with Jon Talbain, who can move at light speed. Although weaker than higher class foes they've fought, both have been able to keep up with them, to a degree, such as B.B. Hood's fight with Jon Talbain, as well as Morrigan Aensland, and Bridget's fight against a suppressed Baiken, Dizzy holding back, and Sol Badguy. From here, there are multiple avenues of scaling to higher tier feats, but they all highly debatable. Just as Loka has given their view on things, I'd like to share my own, though I do definitely agree with what has been said.
By the time of Strive, the Guilty Gear cast has progressed a fair amount from the early days of the series. Justice, while amplified forty times over, was able to vaporise Japan down to the sea floor (119 Ronnatons), and Dizzy would have power equal to that. Even dividing it by 40, the feat still comes out to 2.975 Ronnatons. Justice was also able to fly into space within a short timeframe, and this feat can get different results depending on what is believed with the animation. The oldest version of it shows what appear to be galaxies, but the updated version of the game has her flying past multiple stars. The former interpretation would yield a speed of 22 Trillion times that of light, whereas the latter would give a speed of 2,072 times that of light. Of the two, I personally think using the second interpretation is more reasonable, as it is a more accurate representation of what the developers intended the move to look like, and it has stuck since then. It is likewise arguable if Justice is flying past galaxies at all in the first place, or if it is simply star clusters or nebulae. As one is a more concrete feat, more accurately reflects the intent of the developers, and has remained since this point, I would argue it is the more reasonable end to use.

For B.B. Hood, her fights against characters like Jon and Morrigan would easily put her beyond that of simple Huitzil units, who are able to fly between Hailstorm and Earth in less than a day. Over 500000 lightyears away from Earth, crossing that distance in 24 to 12 hours would require speeds of between 182 and 365 million times light speed, matching those respective ends. Huitzil units are also canonically responsible for causing the extinction of the dinosaurs. B.B. Hood also fought Jon and Morrigan at a point after Pyron had been fought and defeated. They had both fought Pyron, as well as Demitri Maximoff, who absorbed him and his power at the end of the first game. Even with the alien god's power in addition to his own, Morrigan was still able to fight him evenly. Very casually, Pyron was able to spin planets on his fingers and wear them as rings, and B.B. Hood was able to match and injure superior characters.

Both have scaling which would put them on similar levels of strength, and while I don't think either Bridget or B.B. Hood are as strong as Justice or Pyron, there's reasonable leeway to argue scaling to feats they've performed, as given their current state and history fighting stronger characters than these two at later points in the story. I would personally say B.B. Hood is the faster of the two though.

Now, there is also scaling to even greater feats in the series, such as Morrigan threatening both the human realm and Makai with her power as an infant, Jon stabbing through Lilith Aensland, Jedah creating and sustaining the Majigen, Pyron destroying it, etc, for B.B. Hood, and Sol threatening to overload the Backyard, I-No killing Ramlethal Valentine (a creation of the Universal Will), tearing open space-time in her fight with Sol, threatening to restart the universe, etc for Bridget. Whilst it is possible to argue scaling to this level of power, it isn't heavily supported through the series. It contradicts the level of power they've been shown at, with foes such as Jedah and I-No being extremely far above them, and requiring several key players from the strongest characters of both casts to take them down, and that did not include either B.B. Hood or Bridget. As said before, Loka has gone into excellent detail on all of this above.

There's one loading screen in Darkstalkers Resurrection which says that Makai is thousands of times larger than the human realm, but it takes forever to sit through those loading screens (in two games!) just for one flash of text on screen that disappears not long after and then you've gotta sit through another entire cycle if you miss it. Ultimately though, this would still be lesser than the totality of the Backyard, which contains the Underworld Hill, that is itself an entire plane of existence which surpasses time. This would make it another dimension higher than our own, and more impressive than anything in the Darkstalkers series, as it never reaches the level of higher dimensions like Guilty Gear does. As Loka said, neither should scale to the totality of their series' respective cosmology, but if you were to do so for whatever reason, Bridget would undoubtedly win.

That said though, what do I think is most reasonable? Definitely the lower ends, at the very least. I'd also support some of the "mid ends" with scaling to Justice and the Huitzil units. Between both ends, stats are rather close, but B.B. Hood would take an advantage in speed. Even so, it remains a far more debatable fight than one might expect at first glance, but could easily fall apart depending on where you place these two. If you think B.B. Hood scales to Uni stuff but Bridget doesn't, then she wins, but the inverse is equally true. They both have the potential to be leagues ahead of their foe, or leagues behind.

Given everything discussed so far, I would personally lean B.B. Hood. Both girls have comparable strength to one another, but the Darkhunter has a solid edge in speed (with what I would personally buy), and with that, would clinch the necessary advantages to keep herself away from Bridget at wear her down over time. As mentioned a while back, I feel that the debate rides on whether or not B.B. Hood can keep Bridget away, or if she can get in and land Shoot the Moon. Obviously, differing opinions on stats will give either more opportunity to do so, but with what I think is fair leeway for both, B.B. Hood can reasonably maintain that distance. Additionally, her multiple options to do this are stronger, I feel, than Bridget's opportunities to get in close. Jealousy and Fake being able to swap her out for a doll at any time would prevent Shoot the Moon from hitting her, and the Cheer and Fire card's ability to nullify attacks is another way to get out of not only this, but just damage overall when it's in play. B.B. Hood also has her multiple allies to throw in Bridget's way should she need to, and being able to deceive her with her fake innocent act would give her the drop on Bridget. B.B. Hood also has plenty of options for attack in close-range, so she's far from helpless, and The Killing Time being able to further boost her speed and reactions solidifies my thoughts that she could indeed keep herself away from danger consistently enough to prevent Bridget landing Shoot the Moon.

Adding on her greater experience, viciousness, skill and bloodlust, and I'd say B.B. Hood has everything she needs to be able to win a hard-fought battle against Guilty Gear's pro Bounty Hunter. Her comparable strength, superior speed, wider arsenal, and key tools to keep Bridget away lead the Gear Hunter to bite the Bulleta.

Terrific read. Genuinely not what I expected at all. I kind of expected funne high-tier Guilty Gear scaling, which you did address and say would make the debate really uninteresting. I think the points regarding both not scaling and your opinion about them scaling to high tiers is elaborated on well enough.

I think your opinion that Bridget does not scale to high tiers is well-explained, and I can even agree with the sentiment that fighting games should be held to a different standard or treated differently when it comes to scaling. If not careful, it can be an absolute mess, potentially breaking the scaling chain and not making sense within the original context. I do think that should be said more often or pointed out more for fighting games in general, as I do think certain characters should be able to prove themselves to be as powerful on their own without relying on scaling from other characters.

How you addressed Bridget not scaling to characters like Sol & I-No is perfectly reasonable and even agreeable. While that wasn’t the most interesting part, it was what I expected to see given how GG debates for me solely stemmed around the scaling. I’m not going to say it’s invalid, far from it lol but I do think it’s perfectly fair to be skeptical and not give these two characters in particular said scaling.

I also think the verdicts and everyone’s reasoning were fascinating and nice to read. I do think everyone gave their own valid reasoning, with Velvet's being not as lengthy but fun. While the majority seemed to have voted for Bulleta, I do think Gman’s reasoning for Bridget pulling through with superior strength, better weapons, etc., all of which I think were valid and felt like both sides. Despite the majority voting for Bulleta, the minority still provided compelling arguments regarding their opinion on the verdict (mainly Gman).

I also think the analysis character-wise was pretty spot on, and I learned new things, specifically card abilities for Bulleta, which was interesting to find out about. The blog offered good insight, had valuable information, and despite the consensus on scaling for GG, it still managed to be interesting and provide an opinion on why you feel differently about it.

I think everyone who was a part of the verdict did a great job as well. Pretty good blog.
