Prediction Blog: Dr Gero vs Dr Wily

"For every person who dreams up the electric light bulb, there's the one person who dreams up the atom bomb." - Mr. Electric (The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D)

Doctor Gero, head scientist of the Red Ribbon Army.

Doctor Albert Wily, commander of the Wily Army.

What drives the minds of the world's greatest geniuses? A hunt for knowledge, the wish for the betterment of mankind? WRONG! Everyone knows that true intellect can only be achieved through salt-barreled and sheer-forced SPITE!

And hoo boy, if these two mad doctors haven't proven that time and time again! No matter how many times they've fallen from greatness, they've always managed to build themselves back up to threaten the world time and time again. But this planet isn't big enough for two supreme mechanical overlords. So, bots to bots and brains to brains, who will emerge victorious?

Let's find out!

Before we begin…

Hi, Loka here, and welcome to… a bonus blog! And by “bonus blog”, I mean “blog that I did not make”!

Well, that's not entirely true. In case you don't know, all of my other blogs (outside of Bowser vs Eggman) were researched and written entirely by me. And while I did spearhead production of this one and aided in additions with it, a large majority of this blog was researched and written by my friends: Chris, Mannington, Gman, and Pit (If you're a regular reader of my blogs, you'll recognise their names).

So, those are the people you should give your applause for all their hard work! I'll list their socials at the bottom as per usual, so give them a follow! Even if they don't post stuff like this on their own, I want to see my friends get more popular.

Now, will these types of blogs be a common occurrence? probably not.

Intro over, let's talk matchup.

For Dr Gero, we are taking a look at the Red Ribbon Army's history through all of classic Dragon Ball up to Z's Cell Saga. No Super content nor scaling will be included, as those events happened decades after Gero's death. In addition, we are including Toei since Gero doesn't have much stuff otherwise… kind of (See before the verdicts).

The same can be said for the likes of Heroes and the Dragon Ball video games, which are both included as supporting material.

Dr Wily is in a similar boat, getting everything from the classic era of Mega Man content, with a few specific X era things, as well as the Archie Comics (Unlike Sonic's comics, these serve more as a retelling of the games, and don't go into any wacky alternate scenarios or ridiculous stats). In terms of spin-offs and other sources like the cartoon and manga, they will be treated as backing info.

Background

Dr Gero

The Red Ribbon Army. The mightiest, most powerful, most dangerous organization in the world. But at the height of their power, one step away from complete global domination, something awful happened. The entire army collapsed, its leaders all were completely defeated or killed in action, and it became a shadow of its former self. But one man would not allow this to be the end. One man would take revenge on the one responsible no matter what. This was
Doctor Gero.

Gero was the head scientist of the Red Ribbon Army, being responsible for creating all of their weaponry, including various mechs. One day, he came to a realization that would decide his life’s work: Mechs are incredibly powerful, but they can be stolen and used by the opposition. But what if he created soldiers that had all the sheer power that a mech could bring, but could think and fight for itself? That desire to create Artificial Humans, Androids, became the main focus of Gero’s time as a scientist. Perhaps one day, his Androids would even take humanity’s place and rule the world instead…

But tragedy would soon strike. He lost his wife Vomi and his son Gevo, who was a part of the Army himself. And with the fall of the Red Ribbon, all that Gero had left was his work. He had to complete what he had started, he had to create the ultimate fighting machines. And get revenge on the one who destroyed the organization: Son Goku.  Gero spared no effort in his quest for revenge. He crafted incredibly powerful robots, he kidnapped children in order to transform them into almighty cyborgs, he obtained immortality by transferring his mind into a robotic body. All was going according to plan, the world, the future, it would all belong to him!

But Gero’s fatal flaw was his hubris. Son Goku and his allies became too powerful in their journeys for him to defeat by his own hands, forcing him to rely on his cyborgs… who had no interest in assisting their monster of a “creator”. Killed by machines of his own design, Gero died a brutal, humiliating death. Yet, in the end, his legacy lived on. The mark he and his creations have left on history would never be erased, and others would continue the path he once started. Truly, a genius too far ahead of his own time.

Dr Wily

The year is 200X, robotics have changed our world for the better! Robot assistants aiding in every facet of our life from humble housecare to major industrial and scientific support! All these great endeavors and more, only possible by genius Thomas Light, making the future brighter than ever! But someone hiding in the dim shadows would not look upon this legacy fondly, but with great, great spite.

Albert W. Wily was once a friend of the good doctor, colleagues working to develop robots to their greatest potential. But where Light worked to build past their limits, Wily focused on *breaking* them through their limits, various dangerous experiments of him tarnishing his reputation. That wasn’t even a factor to him however, for it was Light constantly upstaging him in, more awards and attention garnished over the slowly maddening doctor. He was the one who deserved the spotlight, he was the true genius of the times! If he couldn’t earn that on his own merits, he’d take it by force! Stealing away Light’s latest and most advanced creations, the Robot Masters, he weaponized them and unleashed an army from his self-made castle, looking to dominate the world that would finally recognize his superiority! What he didn’t prepare for though was Light’s robotic son, Rock, being upgraded into a super fighting robot to take him down! With buster in/as a hand, Wily’s machinations were dashed, but only for the briefest moments

Wily is nothing if not stubborn, pulling any scheme out his sleeve to crush Mega Man and complete his conquest. Through silver tongued lies of redemption, puppeting various figure heads, and building newer, deadlier weapons, all ultimately turned to scrap time and time again. But his limits are practically non-existent, and Wily has proven time and time again he’ll defile anything and everything to get what he wants. Ruins full of ancient aliens’ robots, robotic viruses tearing robots minds apart, and even building something that truly would cement a legacy far more impactful and destructive he could have dreamed of. For now though, he’ll always stand in the way of everlasting peace, instigating the fight for it in the first place. He’ll be the one to turn Light’s efforts into a footnote, remembered as merely second best to the greatest mind of the century!

Powers and Abilities

Dr Gero

Genius Intellect

Gero is without a shadow of a doubt a genius. Developing the entire arsenal that allowed the Red Ribbon to be completely unmatched by the world’s military is an incredible feat in itself, but it takes an extra level of brilliance to come up with androids like the ones he created later in his life. Even outside of that, Gero is surprisingly great at planning ahead.

Though he was caught by surprise by the power increase of the Super Saiyan form, he had managed to prepare himself for any and all power-ups Goku could have had in his base and kaio-ken forms, to the point where fighters that would be comparable to them but lacked the might of the Super Saiyan (Like Yamcha) were easily dispatched. And even after his demise, he kept backups of his mind in his supercomputer and created Cell, always having contingency after contingency to keep confronting his adversaries until the bitter end.

Android Enhancements

For the sake of getting his own hands dirty, Dr. Gero turned himself into an Android, becoming Android 20 of his lineup. While his brain is the same he had as a human, his entire body is completely mechanical, never aging or weakening with the passage of time, and being impossible to sense through Ki tracking methods.

Flight

The power to flyyyyyyyyyyy. Not much to say here.

Energy Absorption

Through his palms, Dr. Gero is capable of completely absorbing energy attacks sent towards him, as well as being able to directly drain it from another person by making direct contact with their body. This serves as his primary method of restoring his energy during combat, as he does not possess the usual Ki reserves that human fighters have.

Physical Attacks

  • Ruthless Blow: Dr. Gero uses his bare hands to pierce through your chest. Metal as fuck.
  • Pesky Fly: Gero grabs an opponent by the leg, tosses them aside before appearing right behind them and kneeing them towards the ground.
  • Rolling Crush: Dr. Gero uses the most scientific of all wrestling moves: PILEDRIVER.
  • Power Break: Gero kicks you into the air just to punch and kick you down again.

Energy-Based Attacks

  • Bionic Punisher: Gero’s eye lasers, which are exceptionally powerful and can easily devastate entire cities.
  • Photon Wave: A gigantic energy wave that Gero uses in a sweeping motion to eliminate any target in its range.
  • Photon Blast: A concentrated energy sphere version of the Photon Wave.

Speed Up

A move that allows Dr. Gero to increase his speed in the middle of combat, from Dragon Ball Fusions.

Dr Wily

Genius Intellect

It goes without saying that anyone with a doctorate has a leg up in the IQ department. Wily is obviously no slouch with robotics, reprogramming and weaponizing dozens of Robot Masters and hundreds of less complex robots. Even more impressive, he’s built plenty of his own original Robot Masters, castles, combat bots, mechs, and other gadgets to benefit him. But he’s got the schemes to use these creations to their fullest.

He’s had a few occasions of plain and simple dominations, but his most successful attempts come with him commanding from the shadows. Puppet leaders to bide his time, disguised gambits to abduct more robots, and even ways to work alongside Light in a truce just so he can better stab their backs. In the Archie comics, he’s come up with even more devious plans, such as a corruptive code in his Robot Masters to reprogram Mega Man when copied, or taking his near world ending event with Ra Moon as an excuse to say he was “brainwashed” and worked to “redeem” himself by working on Gamma. He doesn't claim to be the greatest mind of the times for nothing, so be careful trying to outwit him, lest he get the jump on you himself.

Alien Physiology

Weren't expecting this, were you? Yes, it was all a lie, Wily is truly an alien from beyond the stars! Able to fly around with ease, Wily can project searing laser blasts at his foes, his sturdy body only weak to bubbles of sulfuric acid! And to intimidate foes, he can create illusions of deep space, just like a hologram, which... uh...

...Let’s just move on.

Equipment

Dr Gero

Supercomputer

Doctor Gero has a highly advanced supercomputer in his lab in order to both assist him in the creation of androids and to carry on his work in case he ever becomes unavailable. Or dead. In the movie Super Android 13, it was revealed that the Supercomputer was programmed to believe it was Gero himself and act like him, and that his hatred would carry on to it the moment he dies. Metal as fuck. In the game Dragon Ball Z Supersonic Warriors 2, the Supercomputer was even able to create a perfect recreation of Gero’s body so that it could face off against Future Trunks.

Remote Tracking Device

Through this weird looking device, Dr. Gero managed to keep track of every single Dragon Ball arc after the fall of the Red Ribbon (SMH should have just read the manga), allowing him to have information in all of the powers and abilities of the Z-Fighters in order to adequately prepare his Androids, as well as a secret project….

Shut Down Remote

A remote Gero keeps that can instantly destroy Androids 17 and 18. May seem counterintuitive but it’s important to have when they hate his guts and want to kill him the moment they get a chance.

Dr Wily

Wily UFO

Wily’s main mode of transportation, this ear piercing craft is always there for Wily when he needs a getaway for plans gone wrong. While it lacks major offensive tools, it can slot into a handful of his other machines. It’s been equipped with mechanical claws and tractor beams, used to abduct unsuspecting robots. It even has upgrades from the Speed Gear (more on that later) to abduct an entire Robot Master line up right in front of Rock without him even noticing.

Decoys & Holograms

Wily is really smart, and any really smart person will tell you that putting yourself in active harm's way is really stupid. Therefore, Wily makes frequent use of fake dummies and holograms to trick targets or pilot mechs without actually getting into combat himself.

Wily Machines

However, when forced into a corner, Wily pulls out his titular battle mechs! He’s gone through plenty of designs over the years, from flying warcraft armed with lasers to walkers with turrets and additional drones. We could be here for ages, but the basics don’t change much. Missiles, bombs, bouncing energy balls, anything and everything you’d want from a final boss's last stand. His latest model though, Wily Machine 11, is far and away the most standout. Along with a drone exterior, the gear-like interior is powered by the Double Gear system (again, later) and can speed around at speeds indiscernible to teleportation and turn the gears it launches into giant hammers.

Wily Capsules

But those Wily Machines break, leaving the doctor exposed after all is said and done. Rectifying this issue, Wily created several “capsules” to act as his last offensive measure, usually not that strong, but very annoying. Most models come with cloaking tech, seemingly allowing him to teleport, the one model without this paired with a decoy unit. His weapons complement this hit and run technique, with homing shots, splitting energy balls, freezing and burning blasts, energy shields, and even massively destructive energy balls that can charge overtime. He’s also been known to make getaways in these before, so keep an eye on Wily before he slips away, assuming he hasn't finished you off himself.

Gamma

The joint creation of Light and Wily, the colossal Gamma was originally built to be a peacekeeper, meant to handle any and all natural disasters thrown its way. Unfortunately, Wily just had to keep the streak going and stole it away when finished, weaponizing it yet again. The small head on top acts as Gamma’s brain and method of control, able to launch energy shots when threatened. But the helmet on top was built for Wily’s personal control, letting him take the massive robot for a spin himself.

Gamma is virtually indestructible, Mega Man’s weapons not even scratching it at full power, while Gamma can spew new energy shots from his mouth or just pound Rock into scrap with its spiked fists. That mouth though is Gamma’s fatal flaw though. Gamma is powered by eight elemental energies, mined out across meteors from space and all are needed to keep it running, stored inside its mouth. If some slippery snake would sneak in and tear them out, Gamma’s power would burst, destroying it from the inside out and rendering it inoperable. Bit of an oversight if it was supposed to be holding back tsunamis that could rinse it out, but less fail safes Wily has, the better off the world is.

Wily Star

If I had a nickel for every video game mad doctor who had a Death Star covered in these blogs… Doofenshmirtz

Wily’s largest and deadliest base to date, the Wily Star is a massive space station, armed to the teeth inside and out. Along with various interior traps and forces, the exterior defenses shine with missiles and a massive ion inside the mouth. Said canon was able to hit Mega Man from a whole planet’s distance away. While the aftermath is unclear, at worst it’s a weapon able to perfectly hit Rock from that distance or at best, destroyed that same planet.

Skull Satellites

One giant space weapon of mass destruction wasn’t enough for this mad scientist. Wily houses thirteen Skull Satellites that he claims possesses the power to reduce the entire world to ash.

Evil Energy

A mysterious energy source with unknown origins, Wily managed to get his hands on this power from an alien robot that crashed near his base. Evil Energy is a corruptive source, driving victims to madness and infecting others, mostly robots. Wily is no simple victim though, harnessing the destructive potential for himself and his weapons, imbued with his own evil. Evil Energy’s strength and rate of infection is dependent on just how much evil is within one’s mind, and according to Duo, would have completely taken over the planet if Wily was not stopped as quickly as he was.

Roboenza / the Zero Virus

One of Wily’s most destructive inventions yet, the perfect antithesis of Light’s own ideals. A unique virus that acts similar towards influenza the same way it does to humans, spreading through exposure. While some robots infected break into a sweat (if they got those glands programmed in) with similar symptoms and become too weak to function. But the second stage is far worse, driving robots mad, lashing out violently, and deemed to try and be “taking over the world.” This can affect simple worker bots, complex Robot Masters, and even Mega Man himself! The obvious drawback of this power is that Wily can’t control this, only able to unleash it, though he has been able to create a machine that can produce cures, instantly eliminating the virus. Powerful as it is though, there may be ways to push it further...

Double Gear System

Wily’s first violation of robotic rights and crown jewel of his last conquest, the Double Gear system was made to shatter the limits of robotics, able to elevate any and all robots' physical capabilities. From immense boosts in power to handle ever tougher tasks to moving fast enough to blaze through those tasks, this was the project Wily believed would forward robotics and cement his legacy. However, his research was barred, in part by Light noting how it could heavily damage robots, leading to the prototype’s abandonment and serving as the cornerstone of their bitter rivalry.

Only years later would Wily remember this lost schematic, deciding to finally finish it and amplify his forces through it. The Power Gear function can amplify strength, alter the size and quantity of certain weapons, and even physically alter the appearance of a robot, while the Speed Gear rapidly boosts speed to blinding levels, as if the world around the user is slowed to a crawl. And when pushed to their limit, something admittedly only shown by a Mega Man on low power, both functions can be used in tandem for the best of both worlds! However, excessive use can overheat and temporarily fry the system, though Wily has fitted his tech with cooling systems that nullify this issue.

Armies

Dr Gero

Red Ribbon Mech Soldiers

Unmanned combat robots used by the Red Ribbon Army. As their head scientist, Gero was involved in their creation, and kept many of them to serve as guards for his laboratory. RR Mech Soldiers come equipped with machine gun arms to shoot at any target they spot, which can also form energy blades for the same of close-range attacks. They can also summon RR Drone Bits to assist them in battle, allowing the Mech Soldiers to increase their attack power and repair all damage done to them.

Major Metallitron

The OG Red Ribbon Android. Also known as Full Metal Jacket, this robotic titan was a guard for the Muscle Tower, a major outpost for the Red Ribbon Army. It was incredibly powerful, capable of fighting against Kid Goku, and held tricks like mouth missiles and rocket fists. Even after losing his head, Metallitron could still keep fighting. However, he ran on batteries, which can run out if a fight drags on too long.

Saiba Rangers

Saibamen are a race of plant-like creatures that originated from the Demon Realm and would be frequently used by the Saiyan race during their invasions. In Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2, Dr. Gero managed to create a set of multi-colored Saibamen dubbed the Saiba Rangers.

Other than the usual techniques such as flight, Ki blasts and afterimages, typical abilities of the Saibamen include:

  • Acid: Saibamen can spray acid from their heads, pretty self-explanatory.
  • Saiba Rush: A move where the Saibaman strikes its opponent with a wild rush of punches, kicks, and claw swipes.
  • Saibamen Bomb: If in a losing battle, a Saibaman can grab and latch onto their opponent and completely self-destruct, this move typically being strong enough to instantly kill their target.

Android 13

Don’t you lecture me with your 30 dollar haircut!

Dr. Gero made a lot of Artificial Humans during his time. A lot of them were fumbles but he started getting it right by the time he made Android 13 (though he was still quite flawed). This trucker hat wearin’ bot finally got his chance in Dragon Ball Z: Super Android 13, when Gero’s Supercomputer sent him and his fellow incomplete androids to go kill Son Goku. 13 is a purely mechanical Android and lacks both the infinite energy and energy absorption of later models, but he makes up for it with sheer raw power and possesses a skill unique to him: By absorbing the energy reactors of Androids 14 and 15, Android 13 can enter a transformed state known as Super Android 13, making him much more powerful than before.

Android 13’s abilities include:
  • Data Input: By loading the data of an opponent into his database, Android 13 can temporarily gain the power to automatically avoid their attacks with ease.
  • Android Barrier: 13 can generate powerful barriers to block attacks.
  • Deadly Crash: 13 points at you, forming a red energy beam in his fingertip before firing it.
  • S.S. Deadly Bomber: A large red energy sphere that homes in on targets, following them no matter what until it can strike them directly. Has a more powerful variant named Full Power S.S. Deadly Bomber.
  • S.S. Deadly Hammer: A combination of a mighty barrage of punches and the Full Power S.S. Deadly Bomber. It’s really cool.
  • Silent Assassin 13: 13 punches an opponent, before grabbing them by the leg and throwing them away, following it up with a punch to the stomach, an elbow strike to the head and a kick.

Android 14

The second of the incomplete android trio, Android 14 is a silent killer, focused exclusively on his goal to eliminate Son Goku once and for all. He managed to fight against Future Trunks and hold the advantage for a while… until the brat went Super Saiyan.

Android 14’s abilities include:
  • Murder Ball: A cyan energy ball attack. Nothing special here
  • Energy Squall: So it’s like Murder Ball but there’s like. A lot of blasts.
  • Energy Blades: 14 can form blades out of his energy blasts, can slice through cars like Hideo Kojima.
  • Android Charge 14: 14 punches his opponent sending them into the air, knees them in the stomach before punching them in the back, following this up by immediately ramming into them and striking them with several headbutts and punches.

Android 15

The third and last of the incomplete androids. This one is an alcoholic! And a racist stereotype! 15 was sent out to kill Son Goku, but ended up fighting Vegeta and getting destroyed by him. RIP bozo.

Android 15’s abilities include:
  • Android Barrier: He can create barriers to defend himself from attacks
  • F.F. Spark Cannon: He fires energy spheres from his hands
  • Energy Squall: Yeah he has it too
  • Android Strike 15: A rush attack. 15 strikes his opponent with a kick, before following it up with a brutal barrage of punches.

Android 16

The first of Gero’s Androids that wasn’t exactly a failure... but had other issues. Android 16 was by far the most overwhelmingly powerful of Gero’s mechanical androids, one of his most capable fighters, a masterpiece in nearly every level... But Gero modeled him after his own lost son, and couldn’t bear the idea of sending him to another battlefield where he could meet his end. In order to avoid such a fate, he programmed 16 to be peaceful and gentle, a lover of birds and plants and all living things. But his hatred led to 16 still having one extremely violent command: The desire to eliminate Son Goku.

Android 16’s abilities include:
  • ROCKET PUNCH: ROCKET PUNCH
  • Power Radar: Most of the Androids are completely unable to track down and sense energy, however Android 16 comes with a fancy Power Radar installed that gives him the functions of a Scouter, allowing him to track down any Son Goku
  • Eye Beams: He’s got the laser eyes
  • Mega Energy Bomb: A powerful energy sphere, usually fired after distracting the opponent with a ROCKET PUNCH.
  • Hell’s Flash: 16 removes both of his hands, revealing the arm cannons hidden underneath, and blasts the opponent to kingdom come. Has a variation known as Hell’s Flash Maximum Output, where the opponent is smashed onto the floor so they have no hope of dodging it.
  • Last Resort / The Final Power that should not be used: Android 16 comes with a built-in self-destruction device that can completely explode his own body, causing massive damage to his surroundings. When he has absolutely no other options, 16 is willing to perform a kamikaze by grabbing an opponent and exploding both of them.

Android 17 & Android 18

The iconic sibling duo, Lapis and Lazuli used to be normal teenagers before Gero did his Gero thing, and kidnapped the two. Following years of cybernetics experimentation, they would be remodelled into his Android's 17 and 18, having become two of the most powerful entities on the planet. 17 and 18 come with an unlimited supply of energy, meaning that they never get tired or run out of ki to use in battle no matter how long a fight could end up taking. Which usually isn’t that long, because the two are incredibly talented fighters that can easily outmatch veteran martial artists and even Super Saiyans without breaking a sweat (if they even can break a sweat). However, being cyborgs that were ABDUCTED AND EXPERIMENTED ON AS CHILDREN, safe to say they have no loyalty to Dr. Gero and are extremely willing to violently murder him.

17 and 18 share several basic ki abilities, such as flight, various types of ki blasts and energy waves, but notably have no methods of sensing or detecting energy.

17 possesses immense skill at hand-to-hand techniques and is overall the stronger of the android duo, but his bread and butter is his mastery over the Android Barrier. While pretty much every android is capable of using it, 17 essentially made it his trademark move. The Android Barrier is said to be able to completely nullify attacks from enemies as strong as 17 or weaker than him, and 17 can use multiple layer barriers, use barriers to trap foes, create barriers around his fists in order to increase his power, he’s really good at using those barriers.

18 mainly focuses on using her infinite energy supply to unleash never-ending barrages of ki blasts through her Infinite Bullet technique, and has been shown to be able to use abilities like Krillin’s Destructo-Disk, which can ignore the gap in power between the user and their target to cut pretty much anything (outside of some anime filler). She’s also great at hand-to-hand combat, and has a tendency to sadistically break her opponents’ limbs while she beats the shit out of them. (lucky bastards)

Android 19

The Android that Gero looked at and went “hell yeah I finally made a good one”. After his cyborgs with infinite energy failed, Gero went back to fully mechanical models, but with a twist! Android 19 is modeled with the ability of absorbing energy, using its palms to either absorb ki attacks or directly grab a target and steal their life force directly.

Android 19’s abilities include:

  • Life Drain 19: The ability to drain one’s life force and energy attacks. It is important to note that 19 can ONLY do this through its palms, so removing its hands is a method of countering this power.
  • Detection System: 19 shares the same Power Radar as Android 16, being able to detect and track down powerful energy sources.
  • Cybernetic Pain: A high-speed combo consisting of a punch to the face, an elbow to the back, a knee hit in the midsection, and finally a double axe-handle. Sometimes called Yahoo! which is really funny
  • Eye Beams: It’s got the laser eyes
  • Photon Shot: An incredibly powerful energy wave attack.

Cell

hoo boy

Dr. Gero’s secret and final project was a brand new android type he had never dabbled with before: a Bio-Android composed of the DNA of all of the greatest fighters to ever show their might on planet Earth: Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza and King Cold. This Bio-Android would be Gero’s perfect weapon, and by absorbing the rebellious twins 17 and 18, reach its ultimate, Perfect, state. A being that could easily rule the world… and just as easily reduce it to nothing. The Ultimate Warrior that Gero had always dreamed of creating… yet one he would simply never be able to witness in action.

Now, Dr. Gero was unable to finish this creature in time, but he did manage to begin working on it, and his Supercomputer that holds his conscience kept hard at work and (in some timelines) managed to finish the process. And while we shouldn’t rely on the Future’s invasive beast with a stolen Time Machine and at least two Trunks deaths to his name, please, allow us to indulge in a hypothetical.

A hypothetical that possesses the ability to drain the life of any living being it comes across, steadily increasing its power with every victim, able to wipe entire city populations off the map in a matter of hours, reaching to the point of having slain Hundreds of Thousand humans in its quest for evolution. A hypothetical that knows every attack of the Z-Fighters, from blinding Solar Flares to duplication techniques, to the ability to (IN THEORY) create the almighty Spirit Bomb, as well as the skills and combat experiences of the greatest martial artists on the planet. A hypothetical that can create its own offspring that share its own power, able to fight and completely overwhelm enemies that could maybe pose a threat to its reign. A hypothetical that, if it becomes necessary, can self-detonate and cause an explosion powerful enough to obliterate an entire planetand survive it. A hypothetical that combines Frieza’s absurd survivability with Piccolo’s regenerative abilities with the Saiyan ability to grow in power every single time he reaches a state of near-death. Essentially, a being that can infinitely grow in power no matter what.

A power so overwhelming, it makes all other Androids unnecessary, being strong enough in its Imperfect state that it can completely overwhelm the cyborg twins without much effort. A hypothetical whose very presence can make the universe tremble, and that could reach enough power to completely destroy a solar system with its mightiest Kamehameha. But perhaps this being deserves a name of its own. And the whole world will fear the being known as Perfect Cell, the ultimate terror.

Dr Wily

Mettaurs

The mass-produced mooks that always end up with a spot in Wily’s plans, no matter the occasion. While their appearance doesn't instill much fear at first glance, these troops are far tougher than one would expect. Their helmets are able to deflect most attacks, including fully charged buster shots, and have been modified with cannon and propeller equipment. The most notable function of a Met is their modular capability, able to be attached to various other machines, such as cannons, mechs, trains, and even certain robotic bodies.

Misc. Wily Army Bots

Dr Wily has built a loooooot of robots over the years, way too many to give specifics on without making this blog feel bloated. As such, here's a less than comprehensive list of the various infantry mooks Wily has access to.

  • Sniper Joe: One of the first robots Wily ever invented and thus a staple of his army, showing up just about everywhere due to their simple yet effective skill sets. Usually, they come with an arm cannon and protective shields, but they have many times also been shown piloting various vehicles and mechs.
  • Bunby Heli: A frequently used aerial unit, these bots simply fly into enemies, bashing and cutting them up. Very useful for knocking do-gooder robots into bottomless pits.
  • Paozo: Funny elephants!
  • Changkey Maker: A walking campfire with arms and legs, they can produce sentient flames known as Changkeys from their exposed head. Why they’re sentient, don’t bother asking.
  • Telly: Another iconic aerial unit, Tellies adopt the Heli’s kamikaze style, but tend to come in much larger groups to bump Mega Man off oh so high perches. Assholes. Though they have other variants with electrical and flammable properties.
  • Big Eye: For you. Powerful surveillance robots that aided Wily in his early bids, acting as the last line of defense for Robot Masters. They simply just crush anything in its eyesight, but those peepers are the only weak spot they have, weapons bouncing off the thick armor.
  • Pipi: Somehow the aerial units get more annoying. A robotic bird that drops eggs full of miniature copies that kamikaze on their target, swarming them if they can’t be smashed while still in the egg.

Devil Line

“BUMO!”

What may be Wily’s most iconic non-Robot Master creations, the Devil line of robots act as the primary defenses for Wily’s bases. The most iconic, the Yellow Devil, able to split its body apart and fling it at enemies before reconstructing its body, the only vulnerable part being its laser blasting eyeball. But while most only remember the original, there are a lot of these guys! They’re so iconic, the design has outlived Wily’s legacy and models have been built centuries and millennia later on. Of the one’s at Wily’s disposal include the bouncier MK-II, the dividing, Speed Gear empowered MK-III, the gooey Green Devil, the alien Dark Moon, the floating mook Petit Devils, the dual force Twin Devils, and the cubic Block Devil! Strengths and weaknesses vary, but they’ll always be an important cornerstone of Wily’s army.

Robot Masters

The elite generals of Wily’s forces, the Robot Masters. Be they stolen and repurposed public workers, self-made weapons of mass destruction, or even alien androids, Wily’s amassed a collection of over a hundred of these robots to aid him in his bid for conquest. Even the weakest of his forces have been able to occupy several bases and push the Blue Bomber to his limits. And while they all have plenty of flaws in their defenses, Wily’s been able to reconstruct them plenty of times within his fortresses. There are duds every once in a while, but these masters are always at the forefront of every scheme the doctor heads.

ORIGINAL DR. LIGHT NUMBERS

The OGs. Following those made as simple lab assistants, Dr. Light made the first six Robot Masters as workers, able to safely handle dangerous labor tasks while improving the workload. But a bitter Wily saw this as his opportunity for global domination, stealing and reprogramming them while kicking off city wide chaos. While their original purpose might cause some to doubt their true destructive potential, this bunch remains a capable force. Even if dubiously canon, Powered Up’s New Mode shows the Masters are able to fight on even terms and even end Wily’s first plan themselves.

  • DLN. 003-Cut Man: The ever chipper pun maker (or sweet lil gentleman) that was turned from lumberjack to scissor headed slasher. Alongside his sharp top, he wields the Rolling Cutter, boomerang like scissors made of a kind of “ceramic titanium” but are vulnerable to crushing.
  • DLN. 004-Guts Man: What you see is what you get. A heavyweight construction robot with the attitude you’d expect from a jolly giant. While he has no strict weapons, his incredible strength can shake the ground and chuck boulders with relative ease. However, demolition and a deadline can topple him with ease.
  • DLN. 005-Ice Man: Showy and oddly militaristic for a climate researcher, Ice Man is a frosty force to be reckoned with. His Ice Slashers can pierce walls and freeze enemies with its sub-200 degree temperatures, though he’s prone to shocks and blasts breaking through. Also, a victim of terrible writing.
  • DLN. 006-Bomb Man: Okay this one may be on Light, giving such a firecracker of personality a love of bowling, perfect for his explosives of choice. Lighting his fuse, or even snipping it, can end his demolition course, but his Hyper Bombs are no joke.
  • DLN. 007-Fire Man: Paragon of justice, he’s gone from waste management to wasting foes with flames burning at eight-thousand degrees Celsius. His Fire Storm can even circle around him for a potent defense, though putting him on ice is a pretty obvious way to cool down his passion.
  • DLN. 008-Elec Man: With an ego only balanced by his competence, Elec Man is arguably the most powerful of the bunch. Literally charged with managing power plant voltage levels, he can harness this through his cross-firing Thunder Beam, smiting almost any robot in his way. Cutting his wires or clogging them up can cause his circuit to run short though.

DLN.00A & DLN.00B

Oh yeah, these guys

The scraps exclusive to Powered Up, Time Man and Oil Man round the original DLNs to a traditional eight. Time Man, irritable and frustrated as a failure in time travel experiments, can use Time Slow to bring everything but himself to a crawl, along with firing energised clock hands. Though like most clocks, shocking his systems can throw him off balance. In contrast, the bombastic and carefree Oil Man takes his oil production to a new level, able to spew out oil and slide around on it, smashing into and smothering enemies. But it, and his whole body, are very flammable.

ORIGINAL DR. WILY NUMBERS

If there’s one thing to know about Dr. Wily it’s that he’s one petty, petty man. After his first attempt at world conquering failed, he decided that he would make his OWN line of Robot Masters, specifically built to be BETTER than Light’s FAILURES in EVERY WAY. As such, unlike the previous Masters, they were built specifically for combat, and to destroy Mega Man once and for all. It went about as well as you’d expect.

  • DWN.009 - Metal Man: You think Cut Man is good at cutting things? Please, make way for Metal Man! A quick worker, Metal Man is focused and efficient, slicing everything to pieces with his infamous special weapon: the Metal Blade! Made of Ceratanium, these saw blades can make quick work of nearly anything that gets in their way! …Including Metal Man. MINOR DESIGN FLAW!
  • DWN. 010 - Air Man: Up in the sky. Ten miles high. A man stands above the city he will destroy. An egocentric robot, Air Man loves nothing more than talking about himself, but make no mistake, his powerful Air Shooter can create waves upon waves of tornadoes that can easily eliminate his targets. They don’t consider him unbeatable for nothing.
  • DWN. 011 - Bubble Man: The first ever robot designed specifically for underwater usage, a testament to Wily's world changing genius! …And also a testament to his failures, because the waterproofing makes him completely unable to walk on land and he has to move by jumping like a frog. His Bubble Lead is pretty handy and can ruin holographic devices… But he's a joke for a reason.
  • DWN. 012 - Quick Man: One of Dr. Wily's greatest masterpieces. Quick Man isn't just quick, he's the fastest robot that Wily ever designed. Using Elec Man and his lightning as a basis, Wily created a machine fast enough to leave that very lightning in the dust. Quick Man craves one thing only: to be crowned as the world's number one robot. Equipped with his Quick Boomerangs, which he can use both as projectiles and as mighty melee weapons, he proved to be more than a match for Mega Man in battle. His one weakness is to take away his speed, and due to a design flaw, stopping the flow of time can actively harm him.
  • DWN. 013 - Crash Man: Light needs Guts Man to be extra tough and Bomb Man to blow things up? Pathetic. Wily can have both in one! Crash Man is the destroyer, his Crash Bombs being much greater weapons than the Hyper Bombs could dream of, attaching to his targets and detonating whenever he wants. His armor is extremely powerful and can withstand most attacks, but can be overcome by strong winds. Oh, and don’t mention his lack of hands, he’s pretty sensitive about that.
  • DWN. 014 - Flash Man: One of Wily's dreams was to one day control time itself. Flash Man was his first attempt at doing so, one-upping Light's Time Man by creating a system that could completely stop time! Flash Man is far from the strongest Robot Master, but his ability to freeze time gives him many, many opportunities to destroy his foes. If only he wasn't so sensitive about being bald…
  • DWN. 015 - Heat Man: He's Fire Man, but better… and designed to look like a lighter, for some reason. Light's bot can reach eight thousand degrees? Pssh. Try TWELVE THOUSAND! He may despise cold things and water, but his Atomic Fire can overwhelm nearly any foe.
  • DWN. 016 - Wood Man: Dr. Wily, genius mastermind, thought it would be a great idea to make a robot out of wood. Japanese cypresses, to be precise. The result of that was Wood Man, the nicest robot master of them all >:], a nature lover with a kind and gentle nature that is extremely unexpected for a robot designed for murder. His Leaf Shield can block most attacks, but even a good metal coating isn’t making all that wood any less flammable.

LIGHT-WILY NUMBERS

Despite two back-to-back bids for world conquest, Wily somehow managed to convince Light he was a changed man, enough that he could be let back into the lab. With the goal of building a massive “peace-keeping” robot, the pair created another line-up of seven (yes seven) Robot Masters to mine the energy needed to power the robot. After suddenly “going rogue” without Wily’s influence, they became just as deadly as masters of the past.

  • DWN. 017-Needle Man: Living a sad, no arm life, Needle Man was built with the purpose of breaking through boulders and bedrock which, shocker, make for deadly weapons. Along with projectile needles, he can launch his headpiece along a wire, allowing him to smash into enemies or even swing around into them. Shame they programmed him with a weakness and…phobia of pointy objects. Poor guy.
  • DWN. 018-Magnet Man: Built to generate magnetic forces to aid in mining, Magnet Man got a potent upgrade with homing Magnet Missiles that can blow enemies apart. He can even control magnetic fields to send scrap and other robots flying into each other. But like any magnet, he just can’t stand up to a nasty shock.
  • DWN. 019-Gemini Man: Not sure why a mining robot needs hologram technology, but it makes Gemini man all the fiercer in combat, able to make holographic copies that can act and fight independently, armed with basic buster shots and the ricocheting Gemini Laser. Though if you can home in on the original, his tricks won’t last.
  • DWN. 20-Hard Man: Comedy. Designed to press through stone and mineral, Hard Man’s three-ton, ceratanium body can crush opponents with ease, though can be torn apart with explosive force. To keep his distance, he can launch his arms for a ROCKET PUNCH
  • DWN. 21-Top Man: As smooth a character he presents himself…yeah he’s still just a guy who spins. He’s still a tough hitter, the Top Spin able to plow through foes, but a knuckle sandwich can stop his spinning fast.
  • DWN. 22-Snake Man: Built for navigating narrow caverns and other topographic managements, Snake Man fits his animal namesake and can slip around attacks in any location. Sharp needles make it a lot easier to pin him down though. His Search Snakes can act as extra sets of eyes and even swipe resources and items to bring back to him.
  • DWN. 23-Spark Man: Doubling Elec Man’s voltage levels, Spark Man is designed for recharging electric equipment, a task the scatterbrained bot much prefers over fighting. While his electrode arms can be cut off easily, his output is incredibly powerful, his Spark Shock able to temporarily short circuit and paralyse other robots.
  • “DWN.” 24-Shadow Man: So about that eighth one. A mysterious robot modelled after a ninja Wily discovered within lost ruins, Shadow Man’s past is an enigma. Some say he is a Kuiper Droid, an alien robot meant to guard a powerful supercomputer. Others note his incredible loyalty to Wily as a flash-stepping spy. And some claim he is…struggling to support his Shadow Man household. Regardless of origin, the one constant is his incredible skill and power, arguably the deadliest of Wily’s numbers. Along with martial prowess, which he oddly is weak too when overwhelmed, he primarily wields the Shadow Blade, a boomeranging shuriken that is apparently coated in technology disrupting fluid. He has also been shown to use caltrops and summon giant robotic frogs. Some big alien weeaboos out there.

Doc Robot

The Diverse Operations Circuit Robot K-173 is a special robot, designed to be able to perform combat in any environment and support any type of program. The amount of these Doc Robots varied depending on the continuity, with Archie Comics presenting it as a single machine while the games and manga having eight separate models. The most important thing about the Doc Robot, however, is that it is designed to have full access to all the powers and abilities of the original Wily Numbers.

GENESIS UNIT

Hey Kids, you like Journey to the West? In order to kill Mega Man and protect his Wily Tower, Wily created the Genesis Unit, a very special trio of super powerful bots, to fight off Mega Man while he used a time machine to rewrite history.

  • Buster Rod G: A martial arts master, and the fearless leader of the Genesis Unit. He comes equipped with hologram generators that allow him to create copies of himself and wields both a buster AND a rod in battle, the latter being able to extend like a certain power pole. And come on, we all know what the G stands for.
  • Mega Water S: The only one in the Unit with an actual brain. He also is apparently an immigrant with a strange accent. Odd. He fights using a harpoon gun and by surrounding his body with layers upon layers of water, protecting him from most attacks.
  • Hyper Storm H: The big, bulky and laid-back pig in charge of manual labor. Hyper Storm H is an absolute tank, being twice as durable as your average robot master and being incredibly difficult to damage. He can crush you just by jumping on you, and his breath alone can pull enemies in or push them back, with a buster on his mouth just in case.

Ra Thor

In one of Wily’s boldest schemes, he teamed up with the mysterious entity Ra Moon, who could control machinery and generate powerful EM fields that could shut down technology, in order to take over the world. This included using ancient technology to create Ra Thor, New Wily Number 001. Unfortunately, Ra Moon betrayed Wily and cannot be included, but hey at least he built this guy. Twice as fast as Quick Man, three times as tough as Hard Man, Ra Thor was absurdly powerful and nearly indestructible, taking a full-on barrage of all of Mega Man’s special weapons and some help from his allies to take the monster out for good.

DR. COSSACK NUMBERS

After faking his death and running low on resources, Wily needed a new pawn for his schemes. Enter Russian roboticist, Mikhail Cossack. With a swift kidnapping of his daughter Kalinka, he was blackmailed into weaponizing his own Robot Masters, a puppet for Wily’s machinations. Much like Light, his robots were never made for the purpose of fighting, but were given incredibly powerful mods to become something greater.

  • DCN. 025-Bright Man: Okay, maybe Wily could have blackmailed Cossack into making just one new Robot Master. Built to explore dark places, Bright Man only comes equipped with a basic buster and his big bulb head, able to shine bright enough to stun and blind those who see it…But it ain’t even waterproof, come on.
  • DCN. 026-Toad Man: A couple new Robot Masters. He’s a bit of a step up, his agriculture upgrade letting him summon acid rain, he’s almost entirely defenseless otherwise, making it easy to dissect the bot ‘till he croaks.
  • DCN. 027-Drill Man: Now we’re getting some action. Excavation turned far more lethal, Drill Man can pierce through stone and steel at high speeds and shred his foes to bits. Bombs slow his digging down, but he comes packing his own, able to embed his drills into enemies and blast them apart.
  • DCN. 028-Pharaoh Man: The best one. With a stern yet noble devotion, he’s gone from spelunking tombs to being a worthy boobie trap to reside within. While he has the drawback of being far more sensitive to bright lights, this is instantly made up for by the Pharaoh Shot, a solar powered spirit bomb that can burn through most enemies at its strongest. Even coming in a two way “Wave” variant. He’s even been shown to summon robo-zombies and shields to pile the pressure on. (He's my favourite - Loka)
  • DCN. 29-Ring Man: Oh, guess he actually did make one. A combat robot built for Mega Man’s termination, Ring Man is far more aggressive than most of Cossack’s other bots. His rings act like chakrams; swift, lethal, and fly back to his hands for return hits. It’s a basic kit, one that can be exploited by smelting him with high temperatures, but his high speed makes him a deadly weapon nonetheless.
  • DCN. 30-Dust Man: Oddly effective for a former cleaning robot, Dust Man is a potent threat when surrounded by scrap. Able to suck it up and launch heaps of it with his Dust Crusher, and can use his head to vacuum enemies in close for the point-blank blast. Don’t let him suck more than he can handle though.
  • DCN. 31-Dive Man: An honest seadog through and through, Dive Man is a deadly threat underwater. Spinning like a tornado to ram into foes while packing his own Dive Missiles, able to be launched from within his chest and home in on enemies. Despite his assuring looks though, some sea sickness and a spook from the ol’ skull and bones can sink him quickly.
  • DCN. 32-Skull Man: The embodiment of Wily’s corruption on Dr. Cossack. A robot built exclusively to destroy Mega Man, much like Ring Man, but this one shares the skeletal motifs that many of Wily’s own designs have… Chalk it up to vent art. Skull Man knows nothing except for combat, being described as not being good for anything else, and it shows. With his Skull Barrier, he can protect himself from any harm while he strikes with a barrage of buster shots. While he can be taken out by being crushed in scrap, the nightmare of Skull Man will last forever. What is dead can never die.

MEGA MAN KILLERS

These three mean machines were designed by Dr Wily for the express purpose of killing Mega Man. Their entire purpose and reason for being is to kill Mega Man… must be a lonely life.
  • MKN. 001 - Enker: A cold and somewhat anti-social bot, Enker’s entire way of life is wanting Mega Man thrown into the scrapyard. He’ll leap about the arena like a grasshopper and charge up a projectile to fire at his target. He’ll be wide open but while charging, he’ll absorb whatever projectiles he’s hit with and release a more powerful attack.
  • MKN. 002 - Punk: This chunky bad boy is a rebellious but beastly juggernaut that attacks by rolling up into a spiky ball and bouncing in place before charging forward like a certain hedgehog. He may also throw a spinning blade to attack at a distance.
  • MKN. 003 - Ballade: He loves a good fight and he’s willing to deliver one, in two different forms at that. In the first one, he’ll (predictably) jump all over the place and fire a spread shot when he stands his ground. In his second form, he gets a bigger spread shot, and can drop an explosive beneath him that’ll detonate in a few seconds, though it can be shot down.

Quint

Wily had finally done it. By stealing the Time Skimmer of the Chronos Institute, he managed to team up with himself from 37.426 YEARS INTO THE FUTURE (don’t think about it too hard) to finally capture and reprogram Mega Man into his loyal soldier. Finally, he had won! He brought his new Quint with him to the present and equipped him with the deadliest special weapon of all: the Sakugarne!

...it's a pogo stick. Alright, are you going to at least include the other Robot Master weapons or- no, just the pogo stick? Ok.

PROTO MAN NUMBERS(???)

Switching back to self-made units, Wily picked up a nasty habit from puppeting Cossack and decided to continue the trend of figureheads and misdirections letting him be the mastermind from the shadows. Headed by the shape-shifting Dark Man, a “rogue” Proto Man would lead an army of robots to conquer the world, kidnapping Light in the process. The Robot Masters at the head of this all were even built with the idea of warfare at the forefront, with incredible power but dominance on wide-scale battles.

  • DWN. 033-Gravity Man: An experimental robot built with far more than brute force in mind. While he only packs a fairly weak buster and doesn't play nice with other cosmic concepts, Gravity Man has harnessed his harness. He is able to both freely control his own gravity and use his devastating Gravity Hold to crush enemies under massive gravity or send them flying upwards, though it does have a limited range.
  • DWN. 034-Wave Man: A “misanthropic sentimentalist” of a Robot Master built for infiltrating and controlling water treatment plants, which is…pretty fucked up for one of the most forgettable bots in the series. Alongside obvious aquatic mobility, he's armed with a harpoon cannon and the Water Wave that can produce pressurized columns of water, but he tends to crumble in close quarters.
  • DWN. 035-Stone Man: Friend of Guts Man, Stone Man is built as the unit powerhouse, taking over a mountain to use as a base for further plans. Beyond his incredible strength, his stone body can split apart to rebuild himself and fling them at his enemies. Heavy ordinance and other explosions can shatter the stones, but he’s one tough cookie otherwise.
  • DWN. 036-Gyro Man: Despite Wily’s big plans for these robots, his careless construction led to several supply shortages, causing him to skimp on some, such as Gyro Man. Swapping his intended engines for a helicopter blade, Gyro makes due quite literally, taking over hanging gardens to extort the entrance fee…Only to get bored after his takeover and drove away the customers. He still remains a deadly threat, his razor sharp gyros used for swift ranged attacks, but his flimsy frame can be weighed down by gravity.
  • DWN. 037-Star Man: Yeah, there’s a Star Man. Waiting in the skies, he was built for both combat as well as exploring space to gather resources for Wily. While his romantic view of space isn’t in line with his master’s needs, he’s still a deadly fighter. Rising tides can dampen his spirit, but his Star Crash can shield him from most attacks and tear through enemies with ease.
  • DWN. 038-Charge Man: The biggest victim of Wily’s broke ass, Charge Man was designed to transport resources during the war efforts. While his necessary changes did lend to camouflaged transport in train fields, his coal and water power source is fairly antiquated and has rubbed off on his personality. He fights with high octane…steam rams and launching coal from his exhaust pipe, but that can be pretty easily clogged. Poor old timer.
  • DWN. 039-Napalm Man: So that’s where the budget went. What can you say about Napalm Man? A miniature living weapons platform who’s way too ecstatic about weapons for his own good, or rather others. Over half a dozen missile launchers primed on his body, jet boosters and treads, and his prized Napalm bomb, a bouncing explosive with absurd firepower. He’s the whole package…but don’t get to him about how much he cost.
  • DWN. 040-Crystal Man: In order to even scrape together the funds for the two castles after his dozen combat robots, Wily built Crystal Man to create artificial crystals and sell them for as much as he could get. While he’d prefer to read fortunes, Crystal Man is no slouch in combat. His crystals can generate energy shots and his ricocheting Crystal Eye can split into smaller pieces for crowd control. But despite his looks, his diamonds are pretty easy to cut.

Dark Man

A Special robot unit made by Wily to lead world domination attempt number 5. The Dark Men are all based around the same general design, with notable improvements as the line goes from Dark Man 1 to 4. Dark Man 1 has tank treads in place of legs and two buster arms for attacks. Dark Man 2 has legs, but no weapons, using electro-magnetic shields to defend itself. Dark Man 3 loses the barriers, but has a massive gun and the ability to paralyze opponents. Dark Man 4 is the absolute best, keeping both the shields and buster and being the absolute strongest of the four, as well as possessing the ability to change his shape into other robots.

MR X NUMBERS

Feeling like the whole false figurehead plans still had some room to grow, Wily took on the alter-ego of billionaire Mr. X. How he got to become a billionaire on this level, especially one with his own foundation, is completely unknown, but it allowed him to set up one of his greatest gambits: The First Annual Robot Tournament! Bringing Robot Masters from all across the globe for battle, he swiped the eight finalists for himself, forming what may well be the strongest line up of pure combat robots the world had ever seen.

  • DWN. 041-Blizzard Man: A former meteorologic robot designed for arctic surveys, Blizzard Man was modified for the tournament with a snow maker, allowing him to launch ice at enemies at high-speeds. His three gold medals in the Robot Olympics aren’t for show either (really), able to roll like a snowball into enemies. Just remember to keep him like Frosty and away from the heat.
  • DWN. 042-Centaur Man: With a unique, horselike build, Centaur Man worked as a Greek archeology museum’s night guard. Why they are equipped with a dimension bending time stop is beyond me. But this power is complimented with not just a basic buster, but naginata and energy bow. Might be overkill for defending some dusty relics, but he’s just all the deadlier in Wily’s roster for it.
  • DWN. 043-Flame Man: Formerly built for thermal power production, Flame Man cranked up the heat for his trip to the tournament. While burdened by taxing oil fuel and his flames being tempered by high winds, he can produce high flames by reversing his thermal circuits, able to even send flames under the ground and burst up beneath enemies.
  • DWN. 044-Knight Man: Built first and foremost for dueling, Knight Man embodies everything a medieval idolizer respects. Honor, dignity, and a sick ass suit of armor. And he’s earned his status, having defeated one-thousand other robots in duels with his trusty flail, the Knight Crusher! His shield too provides the perfect blend of offense and defense, though certain attacks can pierce through.
  • DWN. 045-Plant Man: Bio-organic icon of Brazilian flora, Plant Man is far less dainty than one would expect. Rising to popularity with his ability to “communicate” with plants, he was weaponized to compete in the tournament. Along with a basic buster, he can produce robotic plants that can act as independent attackers and use petals to form the Petal Shield. But like any plant from such a muggy climate, he’ll wither in the face of a winter storm.
  • DWN. 046-Tomahawk Man: Not wanting to be left out of anything, because of course, America built the native inspired Tomahawk Man solely to fight in the tournament. Built with all the brave ideals in mind, he is an expert at ranged fights, able to launch sharp feathers from his headdress and send his Silver Tomahawk flying with enough accuracy to extinguish candles from 100 meters away. Tough as he is, shields, particularly of the floral make up, are strong enough to power through.
  • DWN. 047-Wind Man: After an upgrade from agriculture work to kung-fu master, Wind Man was sent in to fight in the tournament as a martial champion. Along with his self-professed skill in kung-fu, he can produce heavy winds to blow enemies down, even tearing them apart with his Wind Storm and launch his propellers in addition. He can’t put up much of a breeze when things slow down though.
  • DWN. 048-Yamato Man: With looks like this, Yamato Man represents the best of Japan’s martial vigor. Armed with his trusty Yamato Spear, he rushes in at high speeds to skewer his foes or toss spearheads right at them. The only downside is, in an attempt to preserve the weaponry, he only has a limited amount of actual spears, needing to pick them up mid-fight, and is open to slashing attacks to counter his thrusts.

Bass & Treble

Oh yeah. He's a badass.

Through a special energy known as Bassnium, the strongest energy in the world, that Wily made by accident, the doctor decided after 7 whole games to make his answer to Mega Man, a robot that could match him blow for blow through a near identical design. And that robot was none other than Bass.

Bass is the greatest of all of Wily's robots (with one exception we'll get to him), being much more dangerous than any other Robot Master and possessing Mega Man's ability to copy Special Weapons. His buster fires a barrage of non-stop shots at once, and he is also capable of dashing and double jumping through the battlefield. He also comes with his canine companion Treble, a copy of Mega Man's own dog Rush, who can merge with Bass through its Treble Boost, turning them into Super Bass. Super Bass can fly freely, fire multiple charged shots at once, unleash laser strikes, protect himself with a dark energy shield, and even unleash giant comets.

Bass’ main weakness though is his sheer arrogance. He fights for no cause, only because he craves to be the absolute greatest there ever was. He has no loyalty to Wily, and would immediately ignore orders or outright betray the doctor if he got in the way of Bass’ quest to be number one. Fighting only for himself, it's no wonder he could never truly defeat Mega Man.

REMAINING WILY NUMBERS

Shocking for a genius like him, these handful of bots are one of his only contingencies when he’s been imprisoned in the past. Another mishmash of stolen and self-made robots, these leftover Robot Masters sprang into action after six months(shut up) of Wily’s latest imprisonment, bailing the boss and leading another rampage in his name. While plenty of them may come off as ramshackle and lacking, they still put up plenty of fierce fights against the Blue Bomber.

  • DWN. 049-Freeze Man: A robot created as a prototype attempting to create an energy completely free of pollution, splitting natural temperature into hot and cold. Which I’m choosing to think of as like nuclear fission as opposed to choosing to think of as dumb! His Freeze Cracker provides an excellent projectile to freeze enemies in place, and attempting to fight ice with ice will simply lead to him taking a moment to pose stylishly.
  • DWN. 050-Junk Man: You know what sucks? People throwing perfectly usable and recyclable parts in the trash. That’s just awful. Thankfully, Wily built a robot exclusively to look through garbage for useful stuff. Good job, Albert! Junk Man is, well, made of junk. Several robot parts being kept together through electromagnetic forces, which also grant him his Junk Shield. Strong lightning could potentially disrupt it though…
  • DWN. 051-Burst Man: A robot meant to guard a chemical plant in Edo City. Also a lover of explosions, fireworks, and anything that goes BOOM. Maybe not the best combination. His body contains various liquid substances, allowing him to create bubbles to trap opponents, or use his main weapon, the Danger Wrap, a bomb that uses a bubble to float through the air until it reaches its target. His blazing spirit can still be put out by the cold though.
  • DWN. 052-Cloud Man: A robot created for controlling the weather before Wily stole him and enhanced his lightning generation functions, turning him into a perfect machine for a focus in aerial combat. Thanks to a zero-gravity device built into him, Cloud Man is constantly floating around in his cloud shooting Thunder Bolts, but exploding his cloud away will leave him defenseless.
  • DWN. 053-Spring Man: Ok, there’s no way Wily wasn’t running out of budget by now. A robot made out of… 2,000 springs, Spring Man is a carefree and spontaneous guy, just bouncing around thanks to his exceptional high leaps, though he tends to hit low ceilings in the process. His weapon is the Wild Coil, multiple spiked springs that he shoots out at his enemies, but being made of springs means he can be easily cut through.
  • DWN. 054-Slash Man: If you ever think you’re cool, just remember that Slash Man, created for the sake of the construction of secret bases, is a Wolverine robot that leads an army of dinosaurs. THAT is cool. Modeled after a certain alien cat we’ll get to, Slash Man is incredibly agile and speedy, moving around and slashing through enemies with his Slash Claw, as well as trapping others in place with his… weird, red, adhesive thing. A true animal, he’s prone to being put to hibernation in the cold and dehydrating under extreme heat.
  • DWN. 055-Shade Man: Designed to look like a cool vampire for a haunted house, Wily decided to steal this one too. Is nothing sacred? Shade Man comes equipped with incredibly powerful ultrasonic waves through his Noise Crush, as well as being able to drain the oil out of robots by biting them and petrifying them with a stare, like a vampire! Unlike a vampire though, he's actually scared of ghosts and spiders. Poor guy.
  • DWN. 056-Turbo Man: Made from Doctor Wily’s broken down car, Turbo Man enjoys a nice drive while listening to the radio…when he's not roasting enemies with his weapon, the Scorch Wheel that is. Fun fact, he doesn't like Burst Man or Punk, and is rivals with Quick Man!

“EVIL ENERGY” ROBOT MASTERS

Yet another line-up of repurposed and original Robot Masters, there doesn't appear to be anything special that makes them stand out. But in their circuits lies incredible power, housing Evil Energy in place of primary energy cores. These give them incredible boosts in power, drawing off Wily’s malice to further their destructive terror.

  • DWN. 057-Tengu Man: Based off of the mythical tengu, Tengu Man was built to generate artificial typhoons before Wily reprogrammed him. Bold, independent, and proud, his weapons(that's right he's got TWO!) the Tornado Hold and Tengu Blade can create tornadoes that can trap, damage and propel others, and serve as both a slash attack and projectile respectively.
  • DWN. 058-Clown Man: Originally designed for an amusement park because duh he's a clown, Clown Man is a good sport despite being a mischievous goofball who's prone to hating everything and everyone every once in a while. Relatable. Clown Man was modified by Wily so that he could send volts of electricity through his long, stretchy arms, as well as surround himself with a ball of electricity. Once defeated, his parts were used to make Frost Man. Speaking of…
  • DWN. 059-Frost Man: Frost Man was made from Clown Man’s parts…which you would not think at first because of how damn BIG he is! Seriously, he's like THE biggest robot master! Fittingly, he's not as smart as he is huge, acting more like a child with a sweet tooth than the murder ‘bot he was made to be. His strength allows him to punch icy spikes from the ground, but his unorthodox construction makes him weak to explosive.
  • DWN. 060-Grenade Man: Grenade Man is another Wily-made robot master who…is a sadomasochist who likes getting caught in his own explosions. Despite that, he is very good at what he does, which is blow shit up. Also, he has an “overdrive” system that increases his strength and speed temporarily. Maybe it's a prototype for the Double Gears system??????
  • DWN. 061-Astro Man: Astro Man was made for a planetarium to…make alternate dimensions to bring people in, how advanced IS 20XX?! After Wily modified him, he uses this ability to confuse his opponents before either A. Make a clone to shoot people with the orbs orbiting around him, or B. SHOWER THEM WITH METEORS.
  • DWN. 062-Sword Man: Sword Man was made to hold an ancient sword Wily found one time. However, it was so heavy that Sword Man with an anti-gravity torso! Despite his sharp wit, he has some outdated ways of thinking when it comes to things like fashion or tradition. None of that slows him down in the field however, so like the sword seems to have been a good investment.
  • DWN. 063-Search Man: Wily must have taken the phrase “two heads are better than one” pretty seriously when designing Search Man. Cowardly and non-sociable he may be, he also has the definitely not a double gear prototype Grenade Man has, which combined with his homing sniper, makes him a deadly foe. Just keep him away from any fires.
  • DWN. 064-Aqua Man: Aqua Man was designed to manage water quality at a waterworks bureau before Wily did his thing. Flamboyant, immature, and mischievous, this attention-seeker can control the very water inside his body, which is SO tough that it takes a meteor shower to break! Totally. Trust me on that.

King

One of Wily's greatest machines, King was an incredible robot, equipped with an insanely powerful shield that could block any attacks from Mega Man & Bass, an axe to destroy all opposition, and various projectile laser attacks. In addition, King could merge himself with other machines to become even more powerful.

However, there was a catch. King was far from loyal to Wily, and instead desired to create a world for robots, free of the oppression of humans. He led his own revolution, taking over one of Wily's labs and commanding his own legion… but turns out Wily had brainwashed him to keep him in line. Robots rebelling against mankind by themselves, like THAT'S ever gonna happen.

KING’S REVOLUTION

The Robot Masters that were convinced to join King’s rebellion, either through genuine convincing or pure manipulation. Our old friends Astro Man and Tengu Man happened to tag along, so there were only 6 new faces this time around.

  • KGN-001- Dynamo Man: Dynamo Man was originally a field trip guide at a power plant. However, King gave him a fancy power generator that made him a bit too dangerous. Being avoided by people made Dynamo Man a bit resentful, and he joined King’s army, using his Lightning Bolt to generate powerful electric attacks to overthrow mankind.
  • KGN-002- Cold Man: A fridge. He is literally a fridge. Granted, a fridge meant to reach Absolute Zero temperatures to preserve dinosaur DNA, but a fridge nonetheless. At least he can fire big Ice Walls at people… but he’s a fridge.
  • KGN-003: Ground Man: A robot designed for excavating ruins, and supposedly the strongest of King’s army. He’s got drills for days, even being able to shoot out Spread Drills that allow him to strike several targets at once, and even turn into a drill tank! Row row, fight the power.
  • KGN-004: Pirate Man: A robot made to PILLAGE AND PLUNDER AAAARGGGG!!!! YOHOHO MATIES! He is equipped with Remote Mines he can use in order to sink ships straight into Davy Jones’ Locker. But burning him down can easily make him be the one sleeping with the fishes.
  • KGN-005: Burner Man: One of the most sick and twisted Robot Masters ever built. Burner Man was created to destroy nature and spread destruction, and in order to make him do this, King tricked him into believing that he would DIE if he didn’t burn down a forest per day. This led to him constantly burning down forests until he completely lost his mind and started to enjoy the process. Jesus Christ. His Wave Burner allows him to use special gas that combusts into green flames, but he’s vulnerable to being pushed into spikes.
  • KGN-006: Magic Man: A magician robot that decided to join King’s Army for literally no reason other than shits and giggles. An entertainer who revels in receiving applause and cheers, Magic Man always works hard on his magic tricks, having his Magic Card ability that allows him to steal enemy energy and take it for himself and various tricks that bring in weaker enemies to assist him.

DECOMMISSIONED LIGHT NUMBERS

After exhausting his last batch of head on villainy, Wily was thrust back into the shadows. But while angling for a new way to fund his plans, he finally found the perfect way to torment Light and get ahead in the process. With Light’s latest Robot Masters scheduled for decommissioning and destined for the scrap heap, Wily was the one to convince them to push back, rise up and be weaponized in order to stay “alive.” And with a fabricated video of Light unleashing the Robot Masters in a bid for world domination, Wily was…shockingly welcomed as a saviour, opening his bank funds for donations to build an army to fight back against the rogue robots. With Light imprisoned in the most bitter manner possible, his creations once again became the latest tools for Wily’s plans.

  • DLN. 065-Concrete Man: Tough, sturdy, and serious, Concrete Man’s gone from building dams to busting them. Damn. Along with earth quaking stomps, his Concrete Shot can encase enemies in stiff stone or form it into crushing cobblestone.
  • DLN. 066-Tornado Man: Formerly built for fending off dangerous storms, Tornado Man was already powerful enough to push them back on his own. He’s vulnerable to stormy conditions, but his gusts are powerful enough to shred through most robots and send them flying.
  • DLN. 067-Splash Woman: Only took us this many years and games, but finally we’ve got a mistress among masters! An aspiring idol, Splash Woman’s function lies in sea rescues, making her far and away the most powerful sea force, armed with her Laser Trident and super sonic singing. She is unfortunately, and quite clearly, outmatched on land…Also got a bee allergy.
  • DLN. 068-Plug Man: Weeb. All the time watching anime in his TV factory made him restless and hungry for rebellion it seems. He struggles against nonconducting attacks, but his shocking Plug Ball can travel along walls and the ground to zap unsuspecting enemies.
  • DLN. 069-Jewel Man: Crystal Man if he locked the fuck in. Created to work on mines and polish jewels, adoring to collect things and being an absolute attention seeker. Probably why he joined the rebellion. He can use his precious Jewels as a Shield to protect him from enemy attacks.
  • DLN. 070-Hornet Man: We’ve done shit to bees, y’all. Hornet Man is here to pollinate flowers in case we keep doing shit to bees. He comes equipped with various Hornet Chasers to assist him in this mission, which can also be used to attack others.
  • DLN. 071-Magma Man: Magma Man was made to take care of a geothermal power plant, and is also a huge fan of hot springs, how nice! He comes equipped with a Magma BAZOOKA to fire powerful flame attacks, but can be put down by strong winds.
  • DLN. 072-Galaxy Man: Created to calculate the trajectories of rockets at a space research center, Galaxy Man may just be one of the stronger robot masters on Wily’s side, due to his ability to create a BLACK HOLE…which can be stopped by shooting quick-drying concrete at it. Sure.

Fake Man

A police officer who wrongly arrested Dr. Light after he was framed for crimes he didn't commit. For some reason he had access to several deadly robots and even a Wily Fortress guardian, which is probably really dangerous but hey, the police totally need all that. Thankfully he doesn't have tear gas, just his old reliable Revolver Buster. Sure would suck if any civilians were hit by stray bullets though.

Oh, wait. He's not a real cop? Oh, he's a fake made by Wily.
Whatever.
ACAB!

ROBOENZA VICTIMS

Something of an outlier for Wily’s plans, this octet of masters weren’t built or stolen, but driven to madness. As part of his Roboenza plan, Wily unleashed the virus to drive the robots of the world into madness, these eight being the ones who attacked him to steal the parts for a machine that could be used to make a cure. Whether or not this was part of his plan or not, he nearly succeeded, gatekeeping the cure unless the robots who wanted it worked for him. And he would have gotten away if not for a barely cured Mega Man…and forgetting his own flu shots too. While it is dubious if Wily can directly command the originals, he retooled them all for his castle’s routine boss rush, so there’s no reason to exclude them.

  • DWN. 073-Blade Man: Contender for most dangerous robot without any infection or weaponry added, Blade Man was built by a fanatical sword lord, a guide to the sword museum within, coming with the encyclopaedic knowledge of it…And also giant sword arms and head. No wonder he was a menace when contracting Roboenza. While his blades can break with enough force, he keeps his distance by launching miniature Triple Blades to skewer uncultured fools who don’t respect the way of the blade…man.
  • DWN. 074-Pump Man: A water purifier with a very…rustic design, he helps keep things clean on and off duty. Even under Roboenza he’s more defensive than offensive, protecting himself from attacks with his Water Shield, though nasty shocks can obviously exploit that.
  • DWN. 075-Commando Man: Despite his intimidating build and name, Commando Man is a misleading name for the guy, traveling the world and safely detonating long abandoned minefields. You can try to cut his own wires, but the Commando Bomb can blast enemies to smithereens from a fair distance away, his literal tanky build not helping keep foes steady.
  • DWN. 076-Chill Man: Just a chill guy. Chill Man was meant to observe nature in the arctic, to aid in alleviating global warming, but his natural love faded when Roboenza was let loose. He still doesn't play nice with the sun, but his Chill Shot can freeze enemies solid, and even misfires lay frosty spikes on the ground for them to fall into.
  • DWN. 077-Sheep Man: Everyone hated this guy for no reason. Formerly a sheep herder, he transferred to circuit board testing when he noticed his own static build up. This manifests in Thunder Wool, letting him split off pieces of his wool into thunderclouds that rain lightning down upon his foes. He has standard electrical blasts too, but nothing short of…a rubber ball can put this sheep out like a light. Also he might be able to enter cyberspace kinda, it’s weird.
  • DWN. 078-Strike Man: This is…This is just a pitching machine. A pitching machine that gets angry and hospitalises batters before Robenza. At least he’s married now.
  • DWN. 079-Nitro Man: Turbo Man if he locked in. A stunt robot who can morph into his own bike, this daredevil took on all the thrills he could, though Roboenza ended up being one even he couldn’t handle. Along with ramming at speeds fast enough to carry him up walls, he can toss out Wheel Cutters that tear up the ground and shred whatever they run into. There’s no stopping him…unless you lay a tire trap.
  • DWN. 080-Solar Man: Apparently, in-between all the feuding between doctors, someone made an artificial dyson sphere just…floating above a city. Solar Man’s the one in charge of that, leading the bright future of renewable energy! But his bright outlook turned into an inferno when Roboenza hit. His energy manipulation allows him to absorb attacks with his head, letting him charge his Solar Blaze to incinerate those in his path! He can be doused, by the unmatched power of an artificial sun speaks for itself.

POWER GEAR MODDED ROBOTS

The mad doctor’s greatest and latest! (IT’S BEEN SIX YEARS) A handful of Robot Masters from various manufacturers, whisked away by Wily during a check-up at Light Labs. Already full of destructive potential, each one has been further amplified by the Double Gear system, making them even more overwhelming than normal.

  • DLN. 081-Block Man: A construction robot focused on exterior foundations, Block Man has dreamt of bigger and bigger projects, hoping to rebuild long lost temples. He partially got his wish after being scooped up by Wily and supercharged to new levels of power. His Block Dropper can create massive stones above him to drop on enemies…which admittedly ain’t much. But with his Power Gear, he can encase himself in a massive stone golem, holding up to any damage…except for explosives, if you’ve noticed the trend.
  • DLN. 082-Fuse Man: High-voltage and high-alert, Fuse Man manages equipment at transformer stations. Always at nerves end except for his off time with his pet bunny Watts. Good taste. But when Wily turned his safety into weaponry, his limits were broken to absurd degrees. Electric shields, the wall crawling Scramble Thunder, teleportation, and a Speed Gear that puts him past the speed of his own lightning. A shame some good rubber can nullify all those volts.
  • DLN. 083-Blast Man: The one guy who could give Grenade and Napalm man a run for their money in adoring all things boom. A pyrotechnic, he spreads his love of all manner of explosions whenever he can, making him a perfect tool for Wily. His only primary weapon are his chain bombs, boosting explosive power the more that connect, the Power Gear massively increasing their size. Despite all the flash though, the fireworks can get set off early with some preemptive flames, raining on his parade.
  • DLN. 084-Acid Man: A scientific robot meant to directly lead chemical research, Acid Man has very clear applications as a combat robot, the chemist letting loose with no more limits. Along with being able to swim through his own acid, he can produce an Acid Barrier to block attacks and burn enemies, as well as launch individual shots of acid at will. Some objects are tough to burn through, but his Speed Gear will let him swim circles around his enemies…assuming he has a place to swim.
  • DLN. 085-Tundra Man: Another robot from Cossack after the events of 4, Tundra Man was designed to monitor the environmental changes of the coldest places on earth. When not nuking screens with his Tundra Storm, he enjoys figure skating, so much so that he abandoned his job and got a remodeling just to figure skate better. This is why we don't make robots sentient.
  • DLN. 086-Torch Man: Essentially a robo-Smokey the Bear, Torch Man helped to teach campers about campfire safety. But noticing his own design flaw of constant flames, he practices his own “torch-jutsu” style to temper the flames. This manifests in battle with flaming fists produced by his Blazing Torch. His Power Gear lets it all out as he embroils himself in flames, turning dive kicks into burning meteors that create massive pillars of spreading fire. The cold can put his fire out for a moment, but the flammable martial master will burst into action again and again.
  • DLN. 087-Impact Man: A bizarre Robot Master built for piling work, Impact Man is more than just a single bot. Able to split into the “Impact Brothers” that can speed around and tear through the dirt, Impact Man packs plenty of punch, able to tear through many defenses. He can morph further into a three sided drill to drop nails around and even become a massive jackhammer through Power Gear boosts, but powerful acid can eat through his metal.
  • DLN. 088-Bounce Man: Living proof hate has infected this world to the point that Light can do nothing to fix it. A big, jolly bundle of fun…made for crash testing. Thankfully Human and Robotic Resources got this guy a job as a fitness instructor, but Wily just had to ruin his life again. Along with some strong stretch punches, Bounce Man takes the headstrong approach of ramming into his foes, able to split his head, hands, and feet into separate pieces to bounce all around. While he’s easy to pop, good luck poking him when he’s bouncing around with Speed Gear boosts!

STARDROIDS

Alien robots that Wily just… happened to find in some ancient ruins, apparently. These Stardroids, also known as Space Rulers, are absurdly powerful, with their bodies being far too tough for Mega Man to even scratch without a great upgrade.

  • SRN. 001 - Terra: The glorious leader of the Stardroids, commanding their invasion and seeking to enslave powerful robots such as Mega Man. Outside of his amazing hair that he loves taking care of with the best shampoo, Terra comes built with the Spark Chaser, a homing laser beam that he can freely manipulate and redirect. Once you're in his sights, you're doomed.
  • SRN. 002 - Mercury: A robot made of liquid metal, being able to shift and reform his body no matter what happens to it. Despite being a huge fan of communism, Mercury is extremely greedy, which is reflected in his main weapon: the Grab Buster, which allows him to steal the energy of other robots and keep for himself.
  • SRN. 003 - Venus: A robot that resembles a crab. Fittingly, he shoots bubbles and only walks sideways. Despite not having hair, he washes his head every day. Best not to point that out though, he's a tad aggro.
  • SRN. 004 - Mars: A THIRD sentient tank has hit Doctor Wily’s ranks. Mars is jam PACKED with weapons. mines, missiles, bullets, you name it. Unfortunately, due to being filled with more metal than the average robot, he is susceptible to corrosion.
  • SRN. 005 - Jupiter: And then along came Jupiter! Able to fly at high speeds with his supercharged jetpack, Jupiter produces divine energy: lightning if you’d humor him. These shocks can fry most robots, but this was apparently a downgrade, given Jupiter was originally armed with MEGATON BOMBS for indoor operations. So…weep for those he blew up in order to realise he should be modified.
  • SRN. 006 - Saturn: Taking the best bits of Flash, Bright, and Galaxy Man and smashing them together into one, Saturn can stop time AND make a black hole! Despite how broken that sounds, Saturn is very lazy, and usually uses his black hole to bring things to himself.
  • SNR. 007 - Uranus: Bullheaded as he looks, Uranus lacks any weapons in exchange for brute strength, tossing massive rocks with ease and shaking his surroundings with every step…Light one-upped an alien superweapon with his fifth ever robot.
  • SNR. 008 - Neptune: Fittingly for a robot named after THE sea god, Neptune is a right salty sea-dog, who loves a good swim. Fittingly, his main weapon is shooting blobs of salt water at his foes.
  • SNR. 009 - Pluto: See, they let him in with the other planets! Designed for high speed combat, supplementary homing shots back his blinding Break Dash, tearing through with claws. Just don’t try to declaw this kitty, you monster.

Sunstar

The ultimate, unstoppable doomsday weapon. Found in the same ruins as the Stardroids, Sunstar never even pretended for a second to work for Wily, immediately attacking and shooting him down the moment he was activated. Sunstar craves nothing but the complete destruction of inferior life forms, and to rule over the entire universe. Equipped with the almighty Nova Weapon, Sunstar is capable of firing extremely powerful laser beams and flames, turn his body into a projectile known as the Rolling Sun to smash into enemies, and even create burning rain to completely destroy everything around it.

Zero

hoo boy (again)

Wily’s magnum opus, he built Zero with the purpose of finally crushing his enemies and making a legacy that would finally surpass Light’s. And to a degree, he may very well have succeeded in the darkest way. While the “Reploid” would become a soldier and hero in his own right, Zero’s mere existence tested robotics and doomed humanity. Corruption that lead to war that lead to death that, to some potential degree, lead to humanity’s extinction. Even if the Carbons took their place peacefully, even if this did not come from his direct influence, Zero’s impact across 21XX and Neo Arcadia is immense, good and bad mixed within centuries of carnage.

But those would be years into the future, one Wily would have no idea he helped paint this red. He designed him for a conquest on his rival’s own magnum opus and weaponized Zero accordingly. The Zero Buster dwarfs any others of its kind before and arguably after. Even X’s original buster couldn’t scratch opponents that Zero could blast apart with ease. When charged fully, he can even store two consecutive shots at a time, leaving enemies open for a swing from his trusty Z-Saber! Which… he wouldn’t have until released long after Wily died, alongside most of his other weapons. He doesn't even have a traditional copy chip, but instead has enhanced “learning” capabilities. By defeating tough foes, usually Mavericks, Zero can wield plenty of new powers on his own. These include new sword styles (still not available), unleash giant waves of energy shots, tangible shadow clones, elemental charges, and even summoning drones and stopping time. While only used on Mavericks in the far off future, it’s very likely he can achieve similar results with Robot Master’s given who his creator is and what he was preparing for.

More than any weapon though, Zero carried Wily’s final spiteful curse upon this world: the Maverick Virus. While the origins are spotty, it is very likely a developed form of Roboenza, made even stronger and designed to spread Wily’s destructive influence into the future. This made Zero beyond unstable, despite it apparently being made so Zero would be more loyal to Wily. This could be supported by the MV being incomplete before Wily’s death, but specifics are, again, spotty. The results speak for themselves though. Following his awakening, Zero slaughtered any Reploid near him with manic glee, grinning as he did. Even up against Sigma he was a shocking force, easily overwhelming the general, the strongest Reploid around at that point. Not even with a buster; just bare hand beatdowns and a metal pipe that could match Sigma’s saber and “slash” his arm clean off. Sigma was only saved by the virus causing an absurd amount of pain to Zero before he could finish the job, giving Sigma the opportunity to take him out and unwittingly take the virus for himself. The rest is bloody history.

While it’s hard to get an exact read on how powerful an original Zero would be or how to establish limitations, he would still be a monster if needed to be unleashed. At worst, he’s on par with most of the X1 Mavericks, potentially including Sigma. At best, assuming there were no major modifications to his power up to X8, he could tango with Dr. Doppler, Repliforce, Code Red, and Lumine. Murderous and armed with a buster that can blow down armies, with the potential to take his allies' power for himself, even Zero at his absolute weakest towers above almost all of 20XX’s creations.

He may very well be the pinnacle of robotics in every way you could view it. The destructive power, the potential of free will, and all while pushing the limit of available robotics further than ever before. Even Light’s magnum opus paled in comparison to his strength… And yet there were no closer allies than those two. Perhaps it’s ironic Wily never lived to see his creation go down such a different path, but that is an achievement in itself. The strongest force leading the charge against all threats, lasting beyond his own body into a further future, unknowingly closing the rift between the rival doctors and carrying a new, undefinable ideal. It was never the one Wily dreamed of, but his legacy, this world, ends with Zero.

Scaling

Dr Gero

Son Goku

Dr Gero held a rivalry (albeit, a very one-sided one) against Goku for years, and created many of his machines for the explicit purpose of killing that damn monkey boy. As multiple of his androids showed the ability to fight him and his allies, it's no surprise that they'd scale to his feats, at least up to the Cell Saga.
  • [Kaio-ken] crippled Nappa, who turned a city into glass with a single gesture
  • [Base] After his training on the way to Namek, he oneshot Recoome, who was curb stomping and about to kill Vegeta, Krillin, and Gohan
  • [Super Saiyan] Defeated Frieza, in his final form, at 100% power.

Z-Fighters

As the Z-Fighters are generally not as powerful as Goku, most of Gero’s androids should be on par with the Z-Fighters at worst, and leagues above them at best.
  • Krillin killed 3 Saibamen, who are only a little bit weaker than Raditz.
  • Gohan, as a 4 year old, broke Raditz's Saiyan armor. And that shit is DURABLE.

Frieza

Despite his self-proclaimed superiority and might, Frieza (before Super) came relatively early in the order of Dragon Ball villains, and due to the nature of the series, Gero’s creations would have battled characters with increased power since Namek. And seeing as Mecha Frieza was effortlessly defeated by Future Trunks, and Gero’s androids demolished him, the scaling checks out.
  • Tortured a multiple Zenkai boosted Vegeta before killing him.
  • Crushed a Nail-infused Piccolo's shoulder while he bought time for Goku.
  • Survived Goku’s Spirit Bomb.
  • Survived being on Planet Namek while it exploded.

Movie Villains

(Debatable, see before the verdicts)
(like, just in general for all of them)

Each villain from the Dragon Ball Z movies is stronger than the last. As such, Androids 13, 14 and 15 should scale above Garlic Jr., Doctor Wheelo, Turles, Lord Slug, and Cooler (& by extension Meta Cooler), who performed the following feats:
  • Garlic Jr. created the Dead Zone, a void specifically described as “hyperspace”.
  • Cooler survived being launched into the sun going supernova.
  • Meta Cooler tagged Goku while he was using Instant Transmission. (Infinite)

Dr Wily

Mega Man

Although he's (un)fortunately been bested every time the two have battled, Wily has created numerous machines capable of fighting on par with the Blue Bomber, and several of them are even above Rock in many areas. Whether it be through Guts Man's strength, Quick Man's speed, Bass’ overall rounded out toolkit, or even Wily’s own durable Wily Machines, his creations continue to challenge Mega Man time and time again.

Mega Man X

Far off in the distant future, Wily and Rock are no more, and a new age of Mega Man has begun. Although the Wily Army has fallen, the doctor created machines capable of- alright yeah this is the Zero scaling section, all feats here are only applicable for him. And given how he and X have fought in the past and are often considered equals, said scaling should be pretty understandable.
  • Has fought and damaged the General, who could block a planet-busting laser with his body. (59 Zettatons of TNT)
  • Used the Mother Elf to erase the Sigma Virus from every Reploid on Earth at once. (418 Million c)

Weaknesses

Dr Gero

Getting the big two out of the way, two of Doctor Gero’s heaviest hitters, 17 and 18, are as willing to kill him as they are to kill anybody else. Honestly, in general, Gero's forces work less as a cohesive unit and more as independent combatants. It's hard to see them relying on each other for teamwork, especially with Cell in the consideration. Gero himself, while brilliant and powerful in his own right, it's extremely arrogant and lacks the upgrades he's given to many of his minions. If a powerful enough attack lands, then the doctor is no more.

Dr Wily

Wily truly does have one of the most brilliant minds in history… but that mind is inside the body of a normal, elderly man. If anyone can get past all his tricks and traps, plans and weapons, robots and mechs, he has nothing to defend himself with. While he has contingencies for when he’s cornered, they boil down to escape plans and nothing can stop someone who is more than a robot from ending him there and then. Plenty of his stronger forces are liable to turn against him as well, such as those infected by Roboenza, Bass, Sunstar, and Zero. Bass himself isn’t as likely to pull that in the middle of a fight, but the more uncontrollable ones can just as likely turn against his own forces.

Summary

Dr Gero

“Yes, of course.. .as you wish. Though I doubt it will matter much to you after a few moments, when you have been ground to a pulp.”
Advantages:
  • Cell
  • In general, the androids are far better than the Robot Masters.
  • Much more powerful than Wily's army.
  • Ki attacks provide much greater range and area of effect.
  • Gero has more immediate backups in case of his death via the Supercomputer
  • RR Bits provide the army with better recovery options
  • Faster with Toei feats.

Disadvantages:
  • Dead
  • Way smaller armada
  • Slower without Toei feats.
  • Ki absorption has little utility against Wily's Army.
  • Two of his strongest fighters are gonna wanna kill him.
  • He didn't know what a super saiyan was before one killed #19 how the FU-

Dr Wily

“Ladies and gentlemen, your attention, please. The name's Wily... The one and only, the brilliant scientist, Dr. Wily! Now, this may seem rather... sudden to you, but I've decided I'd like to take over the world! HAHAHAHAHA!!!”
Advantages:
  • Zero
  • Far larger armada with a wider variety of powers.
  • Way faster by most metrics…
  • Potentially more powerful troops.
  • Holograms and decoys make him hard to target.
  • His army is actually loyal to him… most of the time.
  • The Roboenza / Zero Virus could potentially jack with Gero’s creations…
  • Best friends with Dr Eggman.

Disadvantages:
  • Also dead.
  • Vast majority of his creations are fodder against the androids.
  • Army would struggle against the sheer destructive nature of the Androids’ attacks
  • … But much slower than the best Toei feats.
  • …but it wouldn't necessarily make them loyal to Wily, either.

Before the verdicts

Cell & Zero - why are they here?

Cell and Zero are, without question, THE most powerful assets of Gero and Wily’s armadas. However, both of them were activated and awakened long after either mad doctor's deaths, which makes it questionable if they should even be included in this fight in the first place. So, what do we think?

Well, duh they shouldn't be here. We're adding them anyway because of raw moments and aura.

Okay, that's not the entire reason.

Cell and Zero represent the absolute pinnacle of what Gero and Wily are capable of, serving as extremely good high ends for their creations. Although not really usable in a normal Death Battle scenario, we decided to include them for the sake of argument and to try to cover all our bases as well as we could. Technically, the two are also in theory capable of activating them should a dire situation require it, its just that we never got to see that happen.

The two are NOT being considered for the main debate, however you can still expect to see several of our verdicts having a designated section exclusively for them.

Toei Scaling

Alright, let's talk about it.

The decision to include Toei stuff came very late into this blog's development, and the decision to do so came mainly as a result of this guy.

(Funni Super 13 image)

Only kind of joking. Gero's Toei minions were always a part of the blog, it's just the actual stats and scaling that we opted to avoid. Eventually though, we realised that we were kind of just arbitrarily limiting ourselves by doing so.

However, Toei content has always been contentious for Dragon Ball debates, and due to this, we decided to simply play kinda loose with it here. Those of us who wanted to include it for our verdicts did, and those of us who didn't want to simply opted not to.

Toei Scaling - THOSE Feats

As mentioned in the movie villains scaling section, Androids 13, 14, and 15 should upscale from any feat any previous movie villain has performed. This includes Garlic Jr. Creating a hyperspace and Meta Cooler tagging Goku mid instant transmission. Naturally this would make the movie androids universal and infinite speed, right?

Not really, no.

We bet some people are gonna hate hearing this, but these feats are the textbook definition of outliers. Garlic Jr. possessing universal levels of power would mean that Goku and Piccolo would be capable of fighting against threats of that caliber before the SAIYAN SAGA, where characters like Vegeta are shown to be able to destroy planets as major displays of power, and if they are Universal, statements like Cell having enough Ki to destroy a solar system would be utterly devoid of meaning within the scale of power the series operates in, which is clearly not true. Similarly, using Meta-Cooler's feat would imply that everyone that matches Android Saga Super Saiyan Goku in combat is capable of moving at completely infinite speeds, which is ridiculous to assume at this point in the story.

Sonic Scaling?

No

Verdicts

Loka

Always feels good to get out a blog that's been in production hell for months. Gero vs Wily is definitely an interesting debate with many factors that goes into it, so taking a page out of how Death Battle formats their current verdicts, let's break this into a few categories!

Physical Stats

This is surprisingly even, and not because the stats are that close, but because they both have a massive advantage in a respective field; Gero in strength and Wily in speed.

Gero's android enhancements makes him tough enough to withstand serious hits from the likes of Piccolo and strong enough to impale Yamcha with little effort. The Android saga takes place long after the Frieza saga, meaning these two have already surpassed Frieza's level of power, and in turn means that they're comparable to his nuking of Planet Vegeta, which comes out to 5 Quettatons of TNT. Meanwhile, Wily pilots machines that can take repeated assault from Mega Man's strongest weapons, which are also capable of damaging Duo. Duo was unbothered by that massive explosion he caused next to Jupiter, which has a max yield of 975 Yottatons of TNT. Comparing these numbers directly, Gero is over 5,000 times more powerful.

As far as speed goes, however, early Dragon Ball Z has very little to go off. As I'm choosing to exclude Toei feats from this debate because they're stinky and sucky, Goku's Trillion c asteroid feat isn't usable, and without it... yeah, there really aren't that many speed feats, now are there? Sure, character like Piccolo and Roshi launched ki attacks to the moon in seconds, but Mega Man has feats that range from millions to billions times the speed of light. It's no contest.

What really matters here is what advantage you think is more important. Realistically, Gero is never going to be able to hit Wily, but Wily is never going to be able to damage Gero. With just these stats alone, a victor can't be reliably decided, so I will put this category as a tie and move on to...

Battlefield Control

What good are your stats if you can't use them well in battle? This fight will have a lot happening on the battlefield, and in that, Wily has a huge advantage. He has numerous planted decoys and holograms that he can use to outwit Gero if ever seemingly damaged, as well as several skull satellites that can strike from a distance. And, while not the most reliable win condition, the Dark Energy or Roboenza could very easily mess up Gero's entire army and drive them to lunacy. Then, all Wily needs to do is make a quick escape from the battlefield. This category goes to Wily, no question.

Armies

But it'd be difficult for Wily to pull one of these plans off without Gero's machines coming for him. Now yes, Wily has way more Robot Masters than Gero has Androids, but... their usabilities are wayyy more limited comparatively. For instance, there's very little Sheep Man, Oil Man, Wood Man, or Quint can provide here. That's not to say they're all outclassed, however. Flash Man, Magic Man, Gravity Man, Ra Thor, Bass, even Sunstar, the list of useful bots Wily can deploy goes on. Unfortunately, what they possess in useful abilities, they lack in power.

The massive speed advantage is still there, of course, but it matters way less when faced with the Androids, who are all capable of high speed flight that can match Super Saiyans, and have the ability to launch massive ki blasts that can obliterate whole countries. Android 18 has literally infinite energy, so all she needs to do is fly into the orbit and then rain nukes down on the Wily Army. Gero takes this category.

Cell vs Zero

And so, we arrive at the endgame. With Wily's bots eradicated, he deploys his final trump card. The red maverick tears through the Red Ribbon Army, only to be stopped as another creature, activated on autopilot by Gero's supercomputer, absorbs the final Androids left alive and faces him in his super perfected state. Who wins between Cell and Zero?

Both are ever evolving, growing stronger the more they go through, and with all the carnage around them, they'll be able to go for a long time. In terms of versatility, neither holds a district advantage at first, but Zero's ability to scan and copy targets means that at worst he can replicate anything Cell can do, and at best he can nab any power from his defeated robot bretheren.

At their best, they are way more powerful than any other member of their army, both capable of matching star busting power. Cell's Solar Kamehameha has a potential max output of 1.05 KiloFOE, which is extremely close if not ever so slightly lower than Lumine's star explosion at 1.052 KiloFOE. But as equally powerful as he is, Cell cannot match Zero's speed.

And that, unfortunately for Cell, is a huge nail in the coffin. Gero's army can take on Wily's speed advantage thanks to being way stronger, but Zero and Cell are basically dead even as far as power is concerned, meaning he just isn't capable of keeping up. It's only a matter of time before Zero manages to overpower Gero's ultimate creation, cementing the Wily Army's victory for good.

It is an extremely hard fought battle and a puzzle to get a conclusion out of, but I ultimately believe that with better speeds, battlefield control, and a more powerful final weapon, Doctor Wily reigns supreme as the superior mad doctor.

Chris

This should not have taken this long to make.

If I had a nickel for every blog involving a character present in Eggman VS Wily | DEATH BATTLE! That took forever to finish, you know the drill. But uniquely, and as alluded earlier, this one is gonna have two segments.

GERO VS WILY

Unfortunately, considering how fucking big this blog is, this is a battle that happens to be sadly very clear cut. Let’s make this easy to digest

Power: Every single one of Gero’s major Androids upscales from King Vegeta and Frieza’s planetary destruction feats, which get wayyyyyyyyyyyyy higher than even Mega Man’s best feat.

Speed: Mega Man moving at millions of times the speed of light is cool and all, but unfortunately, Son Goku and his bullshit meteor dodge far outclass him, to the point of a complete blitz. If one were to play devil’s advocate and exclude feats from Toei, then Wily’s army would completely blitz due to the dragon ball manga’s lack of speed feats by this point. A stomp no matter what, but you can go either way.

Abilities: Wily has way more shit, but most of it isn’t very useful. Most of the Robot Master weapons are exclusively useful for dealing damage, which the gap in power prevents from being helpful. Time Stops can be useful, and so can the Grab Buster, which could theoretically sap away energy… but 17 and 18 have an infinite supply to go around. Wily absolutely has the advantage, it’s just not a huge factor.

Army: Wily’s army is ridiculously bigger, and there's absolutely no contest on who has the numbers advantage. Just one problem.

You ever watch Dragon Ball?

The one with the giant explosions and big kabooms?

With characters in Gero’s saga blowing up entire islands with one blast?

A massive amount of numbers means nothing when so many of Gero’s androids can make explosions wide enough to engulf a massive amount of robots in one go. Most of them lack the speed to avoid these attacks, so they’re practically sitting ducks.

So yeah, I gotta side with Dr. Gero here. Easy money.

But what if.

CELL VS ZERO

IT’S TIME FOR TRUE PEAK BAYBE

THEIR POWER IS EVENLY MATCHED, THEIR AWESOMENESS IS TRULY AWESOME, IT’S THE ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN OF ULTIMATE-

Oh

The speed gap is the same as Gero vs Wily, huh. Right.

I guess Cell wins the day. Good night everybody.

Pit

Another day, another massive fight to discuss. This was a really fun, if really wild, matchup to dive into and analyse what with everything they both have going on and the layered number of questions and interactions worth discussing. With that in mind, I want to break this down into segments to give my proper two cents on who I think takes it. Let’s start with just Gero and Wily themselves.

If this came down to just a straight fist fight, then Gero folds Wily like an envelope. That much doesn’t need an explanation when you have an augmented scientist that took on the Z fighters against a geriatric grandpa. Their additional equipment is what we’re more interested in… or I guess Wily’s equipment specifically, Gero doesn’t tend to carry much of note.

Gero’s Ki absorption is virtually irrelevant since Wily doesn’t carry anything that weaponises spiritual energy, and if Gero gets close enough to Wily to drain his Ki then… why wouldn’t he just kill him at that stage? With that in mind, Gero has to rely entirely on pure brute force. That’s where things get tricky because of how much Wily has to throw at him. His myriad of decoys that are all fully capable of piloting Wily Machines themselves gives Wily an insane numbers advantage from the get-go, even being able to amplify them with Double Gear. Gero’s Ki attacks do provide good crowd control, and he’s certainly strong enough to beat each mech individually, but a combined assault could swiftly overwhelm him, especially since Wily himself could be as far from the battle as he needs to be while his duplicates keep Gero busy. Point for Wily.

Of course, we’re looking at a full army fight here, and this is where things get REALLY meaty. You would think Wily would have this by the jugular- after all, he has dozens upon dozens of robots at his beck and call, so surely the numbers advantage ought to be even more of a boon, right? Eh, not exactly. To be blunt, nothing in Wily's army can even compete with the Androids.

Wily’s strongest Robot Masters can create black holes or move faster than lightning, but Gero’s Androids have effortlessly downed Super Saiyans, famous for popping planets like bubble wrap and moving many times faster than light. Wily’s Robot Masters have individual traits comparable to Mega Man, who closes the gap somewhat but not nearly enough for any of them to stand a chance one on one. Gero’s Androids also have plenty of options for crowd control, which is of much more value here than the one on one with Gero and Wily since one Android getting jumped isn’t the end for them with several others in the wings. Heck, Gero’s supercomputer could even continue commanding the Androids should he go down.

Wily does have a notable advantage in his army being significantly more loyal towards him and less likely to turn around and attempt to murder him in cold blood, but odds are Gero’s army would be more focused with trying to kill enemies more immediately out to get them than they would him, so I wouldn’t call that a reliable out for Wily. Same with trying to use Evil Energy or Roboenza to try to turn Gero’s army on him. Even ignoring how long of a process this could take, neither of these would necessarily end in Gero’s Androids coming over to Wily’s side.

So, does Wily have any options to take the Androids out as quickly as possible? He has a handful. Despite them being much weaker, he does have Robot Masters that could provide crowd control, such as Toad Man with his Rain Flush, Galaxy Man with his Black Hole Bomb, Centaur Man with his Centaur Flash, among several others. Plus, time stops via Flash Man or Bright Man could leave the Androids wide open, albeit many of Wily’s own Robot Masters aren’t immune to its effects so it’s not as though he can have them all jump Gero frame one. With how comparatively fragile Wily’s squadron is though, I think the straightforward scenario of “Android 19 shoots eye lasers and blasts half of Wily’s machines out of existence” to name an example is by far the likeliest.

Wily’s final trump card then would be his Wily Star and Skull Satellites. If ALL else fails, Wily can simply fire one of these things at the battlefield and wipe everyone away… his own army possibly included. Wily would need to get as FAR away from the battlefield as possible first- practically away from the planet itself, while praying an Android doesn’t spot him and snipe him immediately. If either of these two go off then hey, look at that, no more planet and the Androids will probably just float off into space or something.

There’s already a lot that has to go right for Wily to pull all of this off without being killed first, but even if he does get away and gets the attack off, is that an instant game over? I wouldn’t say so. If anyone on Gero’s side notices Wily charging something up in the sky and thinks to fire a Ki attack towards it (not an unreasonable assertion considering characters like Master Roshi have used Ki attacks to nuke a moon from ground level), then Wily’s best chance to win is suddenly nothing but space scrap. Even if it did hit any of them, it likely wouldn’t be enough for a kill considering the Androids are absolutely on par physically with planet busters. It’s pretty much only if the planet itself is destroyed that things get dicey.

To summarise this long winded segment, most of Wily’s advantages are either not enough to make up for the raw carnage and crowd control Gero’s forces are capable of outputting or are too situational or dependant on things going EXACTLY as Wily needs them to for them to be considered reliable. Plus, with Gero having backup options such as his supercomputer, Wily simply lacks the resources needed to keep up. So in the greater scheme of things, the point goes to Gero.

Before we wrap up, let’s take a final look towards the hypothetical Cell and Zero clash. Obviously these are the ultimate weapons for both combatants and while logically speaking they shouldn’t be in the discussion, since we are including them why not give it a look for fun?

In terms of versatility, no surprises Zero takes home the gold. His myriad of weapons and abilities give him much more flexibility than the Ki techniques Cell has copied. Like before, Ki absorption is a moot point for Cell when Zero doesn’t have spiritual energy on account of literally being a robot. If this came down entirely to arsenal then Zero would have this in a flash. Sadly for him though, that’s where the positives sorta stop for him.

Cell has every other notable advantage worth naming. While speed is arguable, Cell is much more powerful. Scaling to Lumine could put Zero at a similar level but the complete lack of context on Lumine’s supposed sun destroying makes me hesitate to use it as an argument, whereas Cell threatening to destroy the entire solar system is just a major plot point behind his threat level. If Cell lands a hit on Zero, then the red robot will be sent to the scrapyard.

Cell’s duplication, regenerative ability and backup via his offspring would only make lining up for that one fatal hit all the easier. Zero would struggle much more to put Cell down for good due to his ability to quickly heal himself, even if he could get past everything else Cell is throwing at him, including his greater range via Ki.

Zero’s one final ace up his sleeve is the Maverick Virus. Theoretically, this could corrupt Cell and give Zero an easy out if he survived long enough. Like Wily’s other methods of corruption, however, this isn’t really enough. The Maverick Virus still doesn’t overtake its victims particularly quickly. Even Sigma, who became one with the virus itself after being exposed to it, fought an entire battle against Zero and put him out of commission long before the virus successfully turned him completely into a Maverick. Zero may have only lost that fight because of external factors but the point remains, the time limit for Cell to kill Zero before he’s taken over is more than generous enough. So with all of that in mind, I say that between their ultimate creations, Gero takes home yet another gold.

This was certainly a Wily fight to behold but in the end, Gero’s victory was far from a hard Cell.

Gman

Man this has been a LONG time in the making, and I'm very happy to have been a part of it.

Now, let's look through each of their advantages, starting with

Strength: Now, obviously, Doctor Gero himself is much more powerful than Doctor Wily's Wily Machines and Capsules. That much is easy, but what about the Androids vs Robot Masters? Well, 19 was able to hold their own against a Super Saiyan Goku even before the heart virus kicked in, 18 broke Vegeta's arm (after he curbstomped 19), and 17 was able to both oneshot Super Saiyan Trunks, and hold his own against Piccolo after his merging with Kami. Finally, Super Android 13 was able to manhandle Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, and Piccolo, all at once! Now all of this is very impressive, as Goku was able to fire a kamehameha at Cooler hard enough to send him to the sun. And then make that sun BLOW UP. In comparison, the robot masters just don't measure up, even with Galaxy Man and Saturn's black hole creating abilities! Strength goes to Gero and his Androids.

Speed: This one should be pretty easy. Quick Man, one of Doctor Wily's fastest creations, is faster than Elec Man, who can move faster than lightning. Turbo Man, another pretty fast robot master, is comparable, and Ra Thor, another creation of Wily's is directly stated to be twice as fast as Quick Man by Wily. Of course, these guys ALSO scale to Mega Man, who was able to fly through space in order to save a bunch of astronauts, which got around to massively faster than light speeds. Millions of times specifically. Now, in comparison, Gero and his Androids... do not have speed feats. Like not even "they don't have anything that compares to Mega Man!!!" No just, in general, they do not have speed feats... outside of using Toei filler and movies, at least. During the Namek Saga of the original DBZ anime, Goku dodged asteroids on his way to Namek. This also gets massively faster than light, way faster than Mega Man's space travel feat even. Now, your mileage may vary on whether this feat is fine to use or not, but it is with me so I personally think Gero and the Androids are faster.

Durability: Now, outside of like "Ooh, they can take hits from Super Saiyans and a super namekian!!!", Gero's and the Androids don't have many durability feats. Granted, that is more impressive than Crash Man's armor tanking bombs, and some of Wily's robots surviving in space, or how Wily survived an explosion seen from space. So because of that Gero and his Androids are also tougher.

Tertiary factors: Okay I think Wily and the Robot Masters have this one down pat. Evil energy and Roboenza both can infect the Androids and turn them against Gero, Flash Man and Centaur Man can stop time, Heat Man can make heat up to twelve thousand degrees, Cold Man can make absolute zero levels of cold, Air Man and Tengu Man can make typhoons... It's a lot for Gero to deal with! Also Doctor Wily just has a numbers advantage. Way more shit to throw at Gero than vice versa.

Conclusion: I think that, in spite of Wily and the Robot Masters' numbers and sheer abilities that the Androids don't have an answer for, Doctor Gero and The Androids should win due to due to their superior strength, speed, and durability.

It looks like Doctor Wily got Gerowned!

Also as a bonus here's Perfect Cell vs Zero

Strength: Cell's solar system busting Kamehameha and Lumine's sun blowing upping are about as strong as eachother, making this category a tie.
Speed: Cell should upscale from Goku dodging astroids on his way to Namek, making Cell faster
Durability: this should reasonably also be a tie. due to Lumine's sun busting feat, as Zero (or X. Or Axl) defeated Lumine.

Tertiary factors: Cell is a much better fighter, has instant transmission, a healing factor, and the durability negating Destructo Disc (wiki says he's got it). Zero has the Dark Hold, a time stop that would leave Cell open for attacks. Cell's being faster should make it so he can defeat Zero before he pulls it off, however.

Conclusion: I think Cell, with his better combat experience, regeneration, and varied movepool should be enough to take Zero down.

Looks like Zero's chances of winning are also zero!

Mannington

I guess I’m just Wily according to my friends

This is a funny little matchup. A random discussion breaking out between these two that just escalated to a bunch of “raw, hype moments, aura” posting, and it just so happened to be army centric, what do ya know. And after a few months of stalling, we’re wrapping it up again. Might be a bit shorter but I’ve got my thoughts all here.

Taking a look at the biggest piece of this debate, the armies, presents a pretty obvious difference in scale. Gero had about nine pages for his army. Wily has THIRTY, and that’s with compacting the Robot Masters. Gero has seven notable figures in his army while Wily just tops triple digits with way more versatile bots. Even basic mooks are trumped in numbers and variety. A few drones and Saibamen are drowned out by the hundreds of different troops Wily has. Met variants alone probably outclass them in versatility. They also all come with more utility than who Gero has. There’s some with the grunts, but the main Androids mostly just shoot lasers and punch good. Wily’s got tons of ways to distort space, mess with time, and generally control the battlefield with black holes and acid storms. Even Wily himself has tons more personal defenses in Wily Machines. Gero is as basic as it gets compared to tech outfitted with the Double Gear system or the annoying cloaking tech. And with the cherry on top that the most action power absorption will see is with some busters and otherwise getting a fistfull of scissors, Wily just has so much to overwhelm Gero.

The drawback to all those numbers… is power. And lord do the Androids mop the floor with almost all of the basic mooks in Wily’s ranks. Even at the most generous comparison, Wily’s absolute best are five thousand times weaker. And if there’s one thing you can’t take from the androids, it is their sheer destructive force. Gero himself, likely the weakest of his own army, could eviscerate a city in seconds. The strongest of his army can launch a few explosive ki blasts or ram into most mooks like the Juggernaut. Even most Robot Masters aren’t gonna last long against this kind of power and get torn to shreds. Hell, even the most pathetic of Gero’s forces, the drones and Saibamen, are comparable enough that they could keep more small threats occupied while the heavy hitters cleaned up. Simply scaling to Super Sayian feats in terms of power and durability just eclipses what Wily has. The one saving grace however is speed. Wily’s forces are immensely faster and can stay on the move to capitalize this. So the debate quickly jumps to this: Can Wily and the Robot Masters pepper the primary forces of Gero’s army enough with their out-there abilities?

Nnnnnnnah.

While some black holes could prove trouble, these aren’t enough to capitalize to clear the huge durability gap. Scaling above surviving a planet bust is enough they can handle whatever gets thrown their way. Not before Wily’s ammo resources run dry, something that is a supported and actual problem. Meanwhile, 17 and 18 don’t have that problem and can just use their huge area damage to Wily’s army until they get turned to scrap. Additionally, Wily doesn't have that many aerial forces, not enough that they alone could apply huge pressure. Androids can fly. Do the math. Trust me, I’m the second biggest Mega Man fan in this blog, I wish I could make a stronger case for Wily. That the Double Gears could close the gap, though that’s not by much. That Roboenza could turn the tide, but that has too high a chance to backfire, or even not work on 17 or 18 all that much. Wily’s wars were hard fought, but Dr. Gero wrapped this up with a Red Ribbon on top.

...Oh yeah. The half finished superweapons.

Yeah, even if we can’t pull them out here, we gotta give some respect to Cell and Zero as the doctors’ magnum opus. So a little side bar for this, the strongest they both have to offer. Taking both at their strongest, strength is fairly evenly matched, solar system and star snuffing putting each other around the same level of power, with a level of durability to match. Speed remains relatively unchanged, but Zero can keep the edge with his own time stop to close the gap. But with the stat gap closing, Zero’s powers are needed to take out Cell’s regenerative power. But with that, Zero has exactly what he needs. His Giga Attacks have the power behind them and heir close range means Cell’s gonna be point blank for them. That’s enough to fry him for a clean finish from the Maverick Hunter. Cell might be perfect, but that still seemed to be below Zero.

His creator is still getting taken out back by the Wonder Twins

  1. I don't understand what the point of using Cell's Toei feats was while also excluding the Mega Man Megamix feats involving the Hyper Energy Crystals.

  3. Zero absolutely negs Cell in both AP and Speed so I have no idea why people think Cell somehow beats him. Zero has on the low end equal AP due to the Lumine's solar system feat and has multiple Infinite and inaccessible speed feats. Unless you want to use DBS Android 17 and Android 18 Zero has at the very least the same AP and massively outhaxes, and outspeeds
